First off sorry if this should be in the law section, wasn't sure as it applies to both law and building an AR.

So I'm intersted in building my first AR. A lot of good points have been brought up that for a beginner (and I'm def a beginner), it's sometimes worth it just to buy a completed rifle. However, the whole reason I do not want to go this route is because I AM a beginner and thought that assembling the rifle myself would help me learn about guns, their parts, as well as how and what functions the individual parts perform.

This being sais I have been searching these threads and have compiled a vast amount of knowledge and information. My question is: if I order parts through companies such as LMT or BCM, do they have specific lowers that are MA compliant? Or do they just ship them to an FFL as is and it's up to me to know what is allowed in MA?

Lowers are all the same. The only exception would be a complete lower that had a folding or collapsible stock attached.
