I like the feel of the X-Carry grip but since I already have a bunch of compact mags, I really didn't want to buy neutered 10 round MA full size mags, so what to do? I started with the X-Carry grip and with a little milling, a bit of dremmeling, and copious filing, I now have a X-Compact grip.

hm, have you tested function yet? Does it actually work? haha
Details, details... I will be taking it to the range today, It cycled with dummy rounds, no problems there. Magazines lock in fine and drop free so I do at anticipate any problems

Checked out fine. 50 rounds, 4 magazines, ran them to empty 2x each no problems feeding or locking back so I'm satisfied. Next on the agenda is to machine the slide for a Romeo 1.

If you like the X-carry grip and want to use your p320c mags, this is a pretty easy fix. I probably spent less than two hours on the mag well and another 30 minutes on the safety slot.

Milled the slide for a Romeo 1. Now it's a P320 compact RX X-grip.

Does the thumb safety still work? Did u have to think out the housing so the safety could swing freely?

Yes, good point. The X grip has a little extra material around the thumb safety. So not only do you need to cut a slot like the regular grips, but a little extra material needs to be removed to allow the safety to move freely. It took just a few minutes with a dremel to clear out the needed space. If you zoom in tight on the photos you can see where the grip has been modified around the thumb safety pivot point.

Is the Xcarry grip smaller/narrower/contoured, or is that an optical illusion? Does it decrease distance from backstrap to trigger? I find the regular P320 grip a little too bulbous to be comfortable for my stubby fingers.

I just measured the two grips, X-Carry and compact. I don't see any difference in the web to trigger distance. The X-Carry is actually a touch wider.at the trigger finger area but has a deeper trigger guard undercut The biggest difference is the heel of the X-Carry is straighter where the compact is contoured towards the mag well at the heel, giving that bulbous look you noticed. I too have stubby hands but I like the feel of the X-Carry for some reason. Either way, the Apex flat trigger might help you out there.

Palmswell. Looks like the difference between your run-of-the-mill Glock and a P80 frame. The P80 frame is nice, but after a long time of shooting Glocks, I am off with it on instinct. Put a G19/23 in my hand (or any Glock) and it indexes perfectly. For carry, practice your behind off on the platform you carry. Even draw and dry-fire is good.
