In the dive (SCUBA) world it's not uncommon to overdrive a bulb to achieve more light. The downside is the bulb life is shortened.

So, to my question:

Has anyone who owns a 6P/6R removed the rechargeable batterypack from a 6R and replaced it with 4 lithium batteries? Does it create more light? No change? Does the light blow up [sad]

SureFire sells a lamp assembly for the 6P with twice the lumens and about 1/4 the battery life using the standard 2 lithium battery configuration. Same idea.

You can buy an aftermarket accessory that will convert your 6P into a 9P equivalent, so you can use 3 batteries and a 9v bulb.

I just found the P61 (120 Lumen) lamp/reflector assembly locally and put it on my 6P. It definitely jacks up the output.

Thanks for the input but I know about the accessories. My question is what happens if I use 4 lithium batteries? Or will that not be possible? FWIW the question has been posed to Surefire and I am awaiting their reply.

It'll light the bulb, and then probably burn it out immediately. That's my guess, but I'm not going to waste my last spare trying it out.

I once replaced the two AA batteries in a mini-mag lite with 2 lithium batteries. It got real bright, and burnt out right away, like vellnueve suggested. I then went to one AA and one lithium battery, and the bulb burned bright for about 10 seconds, then blew.
I stopped doing that.

The law says you can only "overdrive" a lamp assembly a certain percentage. Once you exceed this percentage, the lamp will fail. Don't ask Cross-X or Scrivener for details about this law, it was written by Mr. Ohm.
