Over-Gassed AR10

It just puts this cool spiral on your brass for some reason like blues it too. The muscle rise is crazy and the brass goes really far. At least on full auto.
My HK91 made it easy to clean up after the range. It sent the brass 30 ft down range. No brass to police.

So what would you do to address this?
the correct answer is to get a reloading press and make your own ammo, and tune your gun to your own ammo.

also you can get an adjustable gas block and tune it. or, with some finesse, you can rotate existing non-adjustable gas block a bit to restrict gas.

all that is relevant if indeed you get overgassed situation and buffer smacks hard back. if you do not know how it feels, it is difficult to explain, but when bolt flies all the way back - that metallic smack is very distinctive.
if it is just a mark on the case, but you do not hear that metal distress smack - well, it is not too bad, yet. like it was said - try to observe where the brass ends up on the ground after ejection.
also observe how rifle handles 140gr projectiles compared to 175gr ones.

Greetings,

I just assembled an AR10. I got a new complete Aero upper and mated that with a lower that I’d previously acquired.

All is good.

I mounted an Aimpoint on it and took it out to set zero. Everything’s fine, no issues except the brass is getting mangled. There’s a dimple in the brass from the ejector and a sharp burr around part of that. I shot factory ammo first time out but, going forward, it will be primarily reloads.

My first thought is that it’s over-gassed. The existing, stock, gas block is not adjustable.

So what would you do to address this?

Thank you,

mannydog

Riflespeed adjustable gas block and a heavier buffer is what you need. Have both on mine, runs amazing even suppressed.

Technically the print of an extractor into case may not be an overgas issue, just the bolt issue. Or a too hot load by itself.
I load my .308 175gr close to the max and they all print a bit, but do not smack bolt into the back of the tube.

I've had dented casings when shooting my over gassed DD 10.3".
