I'm mulling over a new purchase. I like the Lady Smith 36 but I also hear a lot about the original 36. Is the quality worth buying used or should I go for the Lady Smith.

You might also want to consider the 360. It's one of the newer scandium alloy frame J-frames, about the same size as the 36LS but in .357 rather than just .38.

I have the 686 4" and 2," 60 2," and getting the 649. I have enough magnums and would like a solid .38 at this point.

The S&W Model 36 is a solid little gun which would serve many people very well. Four Seasons has one for $250 which might be a great buy if it's in good shape.

I saw that but obviously can't tell anything about it from the website lone. Pictures would be a nice addition to the page...I may check it out, but if it's not in great shape, I'll pass and go for the S&W 36 Lady Smith.
