Such horseshit. 32,000 firearms deaths in 2011. They neglect to mention that 22k of those were suicides. Of course.

... one thing I personally found to be interesting was that birdshot from a .410 can apparently, at least in some instances, penetrate human ribs and enter the lungs and heart. I don't know that much about shot shells and haven't seen many ballistics tests but I'm surprised with the penetration.
So if you like statistics (BTW I haven't actually checked the sources, just forwarding something sent to me):
Accidental Deaths by Doctors
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services.
Accidental Deaths by Guns
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188
Statistics courtesy of FBI
According to these numbers, doctors are almost 10,000 times more likely to be kill you accidentally than a gun owner! Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. Since almost everyone has at least one doctor, we must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!
Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'
That argument is meaningless unless you also show how many lives are saved each year by doctors.
That argument is meaningless unless you also show how many lives are saved each year by doctors.
It's not meaningless to the 120,000 that died.
