Not new, but worth a look.

Beyond trying to set the world record for the use of "gun violence" in an article, the author points out how flawed the information used in the non-debate is. This is not really relevant to MDA/Everytown types who argue from emotion, but it is an interesting read for those interested in data collection and statistical analysis.

The comments are surprisingly even considering the likely hoplophobia of the average BoingBoing reader.

...And that's saying something, considering the rampant hoplophobia of editors Cory Doctorow and Xeni Jardin, and the other regular BoingBoing contributors (e.g. Ruben Bolling). Doctorow is particularly frustrating to me, as he "gets it" on multiple other government-related topics, yet still comes up with crap like a "crowd sourced skyscraper," copyright laws that don't prevent people from copying and redistributing your IP so long as they're doing it for free, and a gov't monopoly on use of force.
