Olympic swimmers in trouble over posing for photos holding guns.

This is a dupe, but whatever.

Last night I read this article and was annoyed by this quote

In the picture, Monk held pump action shotguns that resemble those used in the Port Arthur massacre of 1996, an incident which still stands as one of Australia's deadliest shootings. D'Arcy held a semi-automatic pistol.

I hadn't heard of the Post Arthur massacre, so I googled it, and found that nothing even closely resembling a pump shotgun was used [rolleyes]

Amazing that a country has been so emasculated that to be seen even holding a gun is inappropriate...... (coming soon to a state near you).

I asked an Aussie buddy what happened to his country... No response yet.

Ironic that the story broke on the same day the Australian Olympic shooting team was named.

One of my good friends in college was a foreign exchange student from auzzi land. I bet it was quite a trip for him to go from Montana back to Australia after graduation hahaha. Took him shooting a few times

We need more athletes like this:

Matt Light announces plans for next ‘Celebrity Shoot-Out’ Matt Light might be retired from the Patriots, but he’s not giving up his guns.

Patriots’ Matt Light Shoots Guns to Support At-Risk Youth

and more celebrities like this:

Celebrity Shooting Sports Charity Tour | Facebook

Shoot For Charity At ‘Hollywood Celebrity Sporting Clays Invitational’

Shooting USA - Irlene Mandrell Celebrity Shoot

Blake Shelton, Craig Morgan, other country stars go shooting for charity

I say they bring back the "I AM THE NRA" pitch.

Maybe GOAL can do that in MA. Let's see, they have Matt Light, Democratic Senator Mike Moore, Shaquiel O'Neil ...

...Ironic that the story broke on the same day the Australian Olympic shooting team was named.

They SHOULD be contacted, and asked to come forward on this.

WHOA! Check out Irlene Mandrell's fan web site!!!!!!!!!

A survey taken a few years back indicated that the closest the average young Australian gets to a real gun is their grandfahter's WWII stories. After a few generations, guns are deviant, like kiddy porn.

Australia had a huge gun confiscation a few years ago - including all EBRs and similar, as well as any hangun over 9mm. (A friend lost his 40 SVI to the crown). While there was a "big bore exemption" for shooting sports, the politboro determined that it did not apply to action shooting sports (IPSC, etc.), though Cowboy may have been able to keep their large wheelguns.

In addition to the typical extreme licensing requirements, part of the official Aussie policy is that self defense is never considered a valid reason to own a gun, and anyone claiming such a reason will have their non-carry permit application rejected.

This is probably why England included many items not prohibited by law (holsters, reloading dies, etc.) on the price list of items to be reimbursed when turned in for destruction - eliminate not only the guns, but any trace of the gun culture.

They need a license to own a paintball gun over there(or at least did)

It's like looking into the future, assuming nobama gets re-elected and no one fights too hard against it.

If he wins, expect widespread shortages not seen since the day Bush Sr. banned in the import of semi-auto rifles and the onset of the first great primer shortage.

My Aussie buddy said they were soft-cacks and deserve what they got. When I pointed out that Americans didn't like the fact they were punished for exercising a Constitutionally protected right, he said Australia doesn't have the same protected right and they aren't US citizens.

It makes me wonder if foreigners understand or even know that liberty is endowed to all people on Earth (although we can only protect the inalienable rights inside American borders).

Aussies, Brits, what's the difference? Both have been neutered.

They ignored the signs because "it didn't apply to them", until it was thrown, full force, into their collective faces.

Maybe a road trip to Aussie, baring knives in our teeth, and Mad Max outfits, fully laden down with high-power Glocks, and shotguns capable of taking down airplanes? [smile]

And isnt it a shock that gun crimes and homicides by firearms all over Australia have gone up exceedingly ever since law abiding citizens of Australia had to give up their legal firearms. leaving Australian LEOs and officials dumbfounded as to why this is happening! (the stats are easily found with a internet search). Shock I tell you.
