Poor old 164b-a has been sitting in a basement closet for god knows how long

22lr tube fed , sears 4x score, cloudy glass, pitted steel , moldy sling , rough wood.
Pulled the bolt , bore has no obstructions.
Off to the range with aome 1994 military contract Remington 22lr bought from the cmp.
Shot pretty darn good and still holding a 25 yard zero after all these years .

Nice little rifle , controlled feed, super positive ejection , trigger is surprisingly “good”
A good cleaning and some better ammo and we will stretch it out to 100/200 yards and see how it does

"More gun for the money!"

It's hard to beat a Mossberg. Any model, really. I have 4 or 5 old ones. The only reason I didn't pick up more when they were thick on the gun show tables for $100-120, was that I was always out of state. I had my C&R, but I didn't know the models well enough to know which were C&R.

This was pre-smart phone, and I didn't feel like lugging a big book around.

Trigger is very surprising and eager to get in there and clean it up. Right now its a crisp consistent 2lbs. Almost every old 22 I have and or have shot always has a 5lb trigger or just complete shit trigger. Bore scope up next.

Seems like a Ballistol bath would clean it up.
Its going to get one more trip to the range with some nice ammo, might run some tenex through it for funzzies. See how it does. Then I will talk to the owner and see what they want to do.
I was tasked with function testing it.

Can't be much worse than the lowly Glenfield.
I have tried to part with my glenfied 25 ….just cant
Someday I will turn it into at least a less than 1.5 moa rifle.
Now that I think of it. I dont think I ever ran Tenex through it. Hmmm

Good idea LOL. I don't think I have any more Tenex but I can try other types of match 22. Maybe will try some in the AR7. It's really not a terrible shooter considering what it is.

Not a lot you can do with that trigger either. Smooth it out some but if you try to mess with the pull weight it starts going of when you drop the bolt. 513t had same problem

If any of you Mossy fans ever bump into a model 200KA in your travels, drop me a line.
I'm trying to replace my first ever gun I got when I was 15 and stupidly sold when I was in my 20s.
