That's just the thing I like to dig into and fix. A friend has an 1860 Colt that a relative carried in the Civil War. Which didn't function. I replaced the main spring and machined a missing screw, cleaned and lubed it and it now gets fired periodically.Oh I think that ship has sailed. Trigger doesn’t really do anything, hammer barely moves back.

Yours I would disassemble, boil all the steel bits and card to get rid of the rust restoring some of the blue and try to get it running again.
