Get used to it, everyone! This is the third world future of the U.S. of A!

That's funny. The guy's bitching about the MTA not cleaning up after those vibrant passengers. Maybe if the exciting riders didn't throw their trash on the floor of the subway cars.....

But it's really nothing new. Amtrak refers to many of the trains that run in the South as "Chicken Bone Expresses" because the floors are usually covered with discarded chicken bones. -- as told to me by a conductor 20+ years ago.

There's a reason that different plants grow in different places.

The problem with her stance, per se, but the foundation below it: the cauliflower is the, "native culture," not the yucca or plantains.

It's one thing to keep one's family heritage alive; it's another thing to move to a different place, and try to make it just like where you came from.

I'm sure that she'd be unhappy at how few vegetarian eskimos there are..... [rolleyes]

...and since she specifically mentions yuca:
How to Grow Cassava, Also Known As Yuca
    and they're not frost tolerant.

Well, that's how I'd say it, were I speaking Spanish.

    If I'm speaking Spanish, I say, "SAL-sa."

If I"m speaking Bahstin, I say, "Sal-ser." [laugh]

I see it from time to time in Whole Foods.

I don't think she works on anything. I think it just comes out like diarrhea. There is no thought put into anything she says.

So Oprah Winfrey's "0, That's Good" brand cauliflower pizza crust and other products are colonial racist based eats?

I don't even know what's going on anymore, did the KKK grow cauliflower or something?

I believe the point she was trying to make was that POCs would be more amenable to "community gardens" if they were growing "their" foodstuffs. All fine and dandy, but as MisterHappy observed, the POCfeed she specifically mentions - yuca (cassava) - isn't likely to be grown successfully in places like New York or Chicago.

I've been waiting for it to dawn on AOC she has one sweet gig and maybe she shouldn't f**k it all up right at the get-go.

She already walked back her 12 year prophecy.

And while she seems to have some animosity towards the white folk, here is her squeeze.

Agreed. If you have a decent enough credit score to get an unsecured credit card, then you damned well know what you’re getting into. Treat it like a charge card and don’t carry a balance and you’ll be fine. (I have no idea what the interest rate is in my Platinum, but AmEx tends to be downright punishing.) I use it for nearly all of my spending then just pay it off every couple weeks. I don’t spend any more than I would with a debit card or cash, but I stack up shit tons of points for those unplanned trips or hotel stays. Delta has some great points deals sometimes, especially bigger airport to bigger airport, like LAX or SFO to BOS.

Act like an adult with your spending and you’ll be just fine. You’ll be much better off, in fact. It’s not OUR fault that not everyone understands this!

"Refers", as in the present tense?
I can't find "chicken bone" anywhere on amtrak.com.

I'ma go way out on a limb and speculate that's not because
their chicken entrée is now boneless.

Hey, thanks for the input. Typing in a hurry. Two corrections to my original post.

That expression was definitely not an official position of Amtrak. It was strictly something that employees used to describe the conditions on those trains.

Second, I doubt many people still use that expression today, as this was over 20 years ago, and I expect most of those employees have already cycled out of work due to retirement.

I'm missing something. Have white people been going around telling colored people (are we back to "colored people" yet, or is it still "people of color"?) what they can and cannot grow in their own vegetable gardens? That's a real shame if it's true.

Have you watched her video on it? Watch the video then think about this. She's racist.
She states we need to help POC see the value of community gardens. We meaning whitey.
This is no different than saying whitey needs to help POC get jobs with affirmative action. Whitey needs to help POC get into college with NAACP.
This thought process is the belief that POC cannot do anything without the help of whitey. It's f'ing racist. And the worst kind because the liberal racists don't know that they are racist.

Yup, not only that but your "colonializing" garden is oppressing people. For shame, Fritz. For shame.

I'm going to plant collard greens this year to prove I'm not a racist.
But I do like cauliflower. And milk. And American cheese. And rice. And potatoes. And Elmer's glue.
Wow. Maybe I do need some diversity training.
