well, "Democrat" and "garbage" is kind of interchangeable
Hey, I know some dems who are totally reasonable, closer to moderate, and don't toe the party line. One of my close friends is a social worker who can't have her own kids, she's really sweet and misguided. Agrees with me on personal responsibility and freedom, thinks mental health is really a big key issue of our time, and she even went shooting with me once, the look of lust she made when she first shot my AK (I let her pick a long gun from my safe and she chose the Poly Legend, she's got good taste) tells me there's a dormant freedom lover in there. She's opposite me on the big A issue, and opposite me on limited government, but she works for The Man and is biased in this way, I understand. She still virtue signals on social media really hard, but I don't want her to alienate all her friends either. She'll come around. I think that she really just wants to help people and thinks the Ds are the party of empathy.

Yeah i was only kidding. My wife is a confirmed democrat. there is just no logic that can be used on most of them...they have a different frame of reference. if you watch what the democrat leadership and the media do...they work HARD to reinforce that alternate reality. They use innocuous sounding statements like "the constitution is a living document", and "we need common sense gun control"....

On the 16 yard line, shootin' for the Lewis!
I notice it rather often because with law school, there's a large amount of French words based on Law French and the 19th Century adoption of French as the language of sophistication here in the US, e.g. "RSVP." I think the problem comes from three things: 1) schools teach to the lowest common denominator and don't really emphasize elocution; 2) French isn't taught in public schools (I don't know about private schools) because of the dominance of Spanish as our second language, the French loss of global power, and the Franco-American community losing their French/Quebecois identity and becoming 'Muricans; and 3) schools teach kids to just read words like how they look and French isn't intuitive to an American. For instance, Texans say "voir dire" as "voor-dire", as in, "dire consequences." "Petite jury" could be said "peh-tight jury."

This will probably continue to get worse as French declines in global prominence and the French become less nationalistic about their language.

Edit: think about it this way. French used to be the language of culture, the arts, and diplomacy. When was the last time in mainstream culture you heard about the French or about French culture? How often does the average American even think about the French besides as surrender-prone cowards?
Back in the Pleistocene, I had to pick which furren langwage to take in High School. IIRC, the choices were Italian, French or Spanish. I went with Spanish.

I have to say that I am happy with the choice; after all, it's more likely that, in this area at least, I'll have need to hablar as opposed to parlay [nekulturny Murican spellings intended].

That said, I've tried to have a fair number of buzzwords from various other languages put into memory. I don't consider myself fluent in anything other than English; but, I have the excuse of being a dumb white American.

I was put into French in high school from 2005-2008 (graduated 2009) because I was assumed to be going to college based on my grades yet I wanted nothing to do with any language that wasn't English. In 2009, the school shut the French program down and went to Spanish only. I've used French when I went to Paris around 2011 and I'd love to go back to France. Normandy, Champagne, the Charente, Brittany, etc.

The Spanish I know is enough to tell people that I don't speak Spanish, basic flirting, and that I would like to know where the bathrooms are.

Ocasio-Cortez says growing cauliflower in community gardens is 'colonial'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Sunday that growing cauliflower in community gardens is part of the “colonial” attitudes that her Green New Deal will stamp out.

The New York Democrat, who introduced the proposal to tackle climate change by radically transforming the economy, posted a series of Instagram videos filmed in her home state talking about community gardens as a “core component” of her proposal.

So I'm a bit confused. "colonial" is a bad thing? And only white people eat cauliflower so it's bad?
Also, I'd like to see a community garden feed Manhattan. Sadly, the people that rally behind her are just as ignorant.

I see what you'r getting at, but probably not. The virtue signalers are the most lost, because they turn into zombies and they eat brains. They just keep re-posting shit someone else posted, without bothering to well, do some of their own research, etc. Sadly, she probably won't "get it" unless/until socialism kills someone or something she cares about. Even most pro-gun liberal women also make excuses, I know I had
one in my house for over 5 years. Guns was one of the few things we agreed on politically, well, until you get to the idea of their pet candidate being an anti- then suddenly the "there are more important things
than guns" comes out, and the idea that "XYZ politician would prefer you to have only a rape whistle" fall on deaf ears.

Then again getting people to even THINK about crossing the "curse of the individual" bridge is difficult. Hell trying to even explain things like "natural rights" to people is incredibly difficult. There's this f***ed up safety blanket retardo view of laws and government that is difficult to shatter. And this difficulty infects jingoservative retards, too.

ETA: It's also fun when you explain something to people and they understand, yet the light/value prop thing doesn't go on.... internally you know they are thinking like this guy, because their brain has f***ing aids in it or something...

The libertarian/roads thing isn't the best example, but the sound the "explosion of incongruence" in the brains of the typical libtard or jingoservative... is identical on a whole host of other fronts.

It isn't only Spanish. For Irish class, I had to take the recordings from Buntús Cainte and put them through Audacity on a 20% speed reduction, creating the "Ohio Version"* of them. And those ARE recordings from language lessons.

Edit: listen to some live Irish here: Rté Raidió Na Gaeltachta Podcasts - RTÉ RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta

* Back in the day before cell phones, to call home while traveling you'd use a "Calling Card" to charge the call back to your account. You'd punch in a zillion numbers, and before the call connects, a lady would say, "Thank you for using AT&T!" Except in Ohio. There it was "Thank. You. for using. A. T. and T."

67% of Democrats took AOC literally and believe that the US has only 12 years left to avert disastrous and irreparable damage to the country and the world.
And some people still wonder why democratic voters believe that banning guns would work.
AOC says only a 'sea sponge' would believe her '12 years' doomsday remark, but most Dems bought it
So, she called most of her supporters sea sponges. Nice. Too bad most of her supporters are too dumb to notice and take offense.
