Even *gasp* NPR seemed a little surprised that their golden child was awarded it.

21 days into office... what a joke.

You and me both. One of my uber moonbat friends, who essentially grew up in Europe is happy as hell about this. She is anti military, anti police, and is absolutely in love with 0bama. Yet at the same time, she hates Deval and won't listen to my comparisons of the two scum bags. This is one of the problems with being an artist, way too many moonbats [angry]

    Obama deserves this prize.

Consider other recent winners: Jimmy Carter, Yassir Arafat, and Al Gore.

This prize is now actually an award to prominent political figures who give bold speeches in other countries, where they condemn, criticize, and/or apologize for America, while proposing an agenda to cede American sovereignty to a foreign authority.

So, in the interest of being consistent with what this prize actually rewards, then yes, Obama is the most deserving candidate.

The only problem is the name. It should more accurately be called the "Nobel Enemy of America Prize".

If he does accept it, it will validate the theory that he IS a narcissist - not that there's much doubt there but that should put it to bed.

Anyone else find it strange that a man who has suggested invading Pakistan, Iran and North Korea as well as pushing his own country to the brink of armed revolution would with the Nobel Peace Prize? After reviewing the other candidates and what they've done, I am completely insulted, and I feel that my country has been insulted that this bozo won the prize. The other candidates have all either accomplished or experienced something that qualifies them for this award. Obama has done nothing but talk loud, show off and promote his own arrogance to the whole world.

If I didn't think this award was a joke before, I certainly do now.

He did accept it, as a "call to action". What ever that means.

I have a better idea for a call to action...

Maybe he got it for his uncanny ability to stimulate domestic gun sales.

Sweden as a nation, and the Nobel Peace Prize as an institution, have been irrelevant for many years. To quote the bard (Macbeth, Act 5), together they are " . . . a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

This is exactly how Obama's career will go. Awards and praise absent accomplishment are the norm for him.

He will be a one-term president, with no significant accomplishments. Nevertheless, the left will praise him for "changing perceptions", "offering a new vision", etc. He will serve as a figurehead and rallying point for left wingers for decades. But he will never do more than talk. At some point a democrat president will appoint him to the supreme court. He will eventually be the chief justice and will be cited as "an inspiration to America". This guy will be around for a long time. But, he can't make a serious decision, he can't lead, and he is nothing more than a political preacher - Elmer Gantry in a different job.

This award at this time fits him perfectly, and I am glad he got it. It undermines the award, which is appropriate, and illustrates how ridiculous Obama's standing is.

No surprise to me at all that Obama won. The Nobel prize has been a joke in my mind since Al "I made $100M off of f#$%in' Global Warming" Gore won it. [rolleyes]

    I think he'll accept it.

Which is actually good - a few more people will see how much of a narcissistic gasbag he really is.

I just went out and checked my mail.

    My Olympic Gold Medal came!!

The enclosed documents read: Reason for award: Recipient expects to start walking around the block for exercise next week.

    Awesome!

I am going to Harvard on Saturday - I heard they are giving away diplomas.

This is the scary part. Not the money, as I suspect he won't keep the money but will donate it, but what does this do to him next time he has to make a decision. This now becomes part of the calculus because lets face it, politics becomes part of the calculus for any decision in the white house. And by this "award", they have interfered with the politics of the US by giving this so soon, for nothing specific, and by not having it been solicited.

Anyway, here is the full text of his "non-acceptance".

This is what I needed today to get to town hall and change my voter status. After being an Independent for the last 30 years, I registered as a Republican.

Exactly. This makes for dandy emotional blackmail in the future. "How dare you say "No" to UN's anti-gun treaties.. we gave you the Nobel Prize for Peace!"
