So if I am a member of the NRA what would the benefits be of becoming a member of Goal as well ?
should I be a member of both ?
should I be a member of both ?
If you enjoy the forum please consider supporting it by signing up for a NES Membership The benefits pay for the membership many times over.
NRA's role is legislative and intimidation at the National Level. They do not typically get involved at the state/city/town level.
GOAL's role is legislative and education at the MA Level, focusing on state laws. Their charter does NOT include litigation (that is what I was told by GOAL).
Comm2A's role is litigation at the MA Level, filing suit in US District Court to overturn the ridiculous laws we have and other inappropriate practices by local chiefs. [It is NOT a "membership" org, but you can and should donate regularly via their website. www.comm2a.org] Their charter is NOT legislative.
As you can see above, all 3 have different but complimentary roles and therefore all 3 are deserving of our support.
Paul, NRA's charter is to deal with National issues. They can't really know what goes on at state/local level and thus each state has (or should have) a parallel org like GOAL to monitor and deal with the local issues.

Sorry, I did forget SAF . . . HTRN is correct about their importance in the picture. I don't know enough about GOA to make any judgment at this time.
