"intravenous antibiotic treatment" sounds like serious business, considering her past medical history. From what i have seen happen to others, i give her a 50-50 chance of not loosing her kidneys over the antibiotics. And she is probably too sick for dialysis

that is how my brother went. Specialist in fighting infections said "ah, he should be able to handle the antibiotics". A week later it was all over.

Funny you should mention. My late aunt was a surgeon. She contracted breast cancer, fought it like hell and beat it (except the fight itself wrecked her immune system and she ultimately died a few years later of leukemia). But the act of fighting the breast cancer caused her malpractice carrier to drop her, forcing her into retirement. The thinking was the aggressive treatment would lend doubt that her thinking as a surgeon would be unclouded in the event of a suit.

I will say that I've had other family members go through very aggressive cancer treatments, and that did, indeed, leave them, um, loopy.
