Happy Birthday to me. Picked up my '55 Pontiac Star Chief Custom Catalina after a 10 month stay in the shop. We're about 90% done with mostly electrical glitches to fix - which will basically require a new wiring harness to set right. No A/C or fan at the moment, but the cigarette lighter works and I have a dash mounted plug-in fan to help cool things down.

I should say that about two months of the delay was fate. The car was kept inside the shop at night and put out in the day. While out one day in the winter it was hit by a delivery truck - hit and run - with damage to the left bumper, fender, and door. Front end got a repaint. I'm going to check if I can get some touch up paint from the body shop.

Car is appraised at about $50K

What's left:
*wiring harness to fix the electrical gremlins; interior lights, trunk light, under-hood reel-out light, E-brake light, air conditioner, washer pump, and other odds and ends. I hope not more than another $2K, but the wiring harness will be $5-600 itself.

I cleared about $14,000 with the insurance settlement from the first '55; so excluding the cost of buying this car, I've still about $1500 left plus the $3500 I put into the first one before it was wrecked.
