Nothing pisses me off worse than neighbors who give you the Spanish Inquisition when they see you.

Brings out the absolute worst in me.

I go from calm and polite to 100% rude azzhole in about 5 seconds.

Yes, considerate neighbors will slowly watch your routines and gather intel on you until they know everything about you without bothering you [laugh] [laugh]

Geesh! They weren't just making small talk were they. Did they ask how you garden was doing. Or if you had seen the weather for this weekend.

How is she doing? Recovering from breast cancer.

Anyone who has gone through this knows how hard it is physically, emotionally and financially.

It's a total MFer in every respect.

See why I am sensitive to getting the third degree????

Seems like an inability to "read the room" on their part.

I can understand asking if there is anything you need, or saying "My XXX had cancer, tough, if you ever need to talk ..."

Outside of that mining for more information is really just selfish.

I hope she is doing well. My wife is a survivor of BC. Double mastectomy. She went thru hell and I never left her side. I had the easy job.

    Best of luck to yours.

One of my neighbors called the koptchs on me last weekend, guess they didn't like Iron Maiden playing at (gasp!) 11pm on a Sat night. (Seriously it wasn’t that loud at all, Bluetooth speaker out in my yard while I was having a fire and some drinks).

Yesterday I went out early to throw my tomahawk and a couple knives at a target I built out there. Saw the neighbor who I suspected of calling, and started walking in his direction waving hello (with a hawk in one hand and a knife in the other), I was going to ask him about it, apologize and offer my number so he can call me next time instead of the popo, surprisingly enough he literally ran inside his house like I fired shots at him and closed his garage door.

Confirmed my suspicions at least. What can you do.

Are they genuinely concerned about her health or are they actually nosy neighbors?? My wife is a stage 2 breast cancer survivor x 12 years and I am a stage 4 colon cancer survivor x 5 years. I can say that sometimes people react odd towards someone with any kind of cancer. Some avoid you because they are not sure how to address the situation and others often over-compensate in the other direction and feel like they must be your best friend all of a sudden. Only you can honestly evaluate whether this irritation is due to your discomfort or their being nosy.

I will say, on a personal note, that I struggled to handle my wife's breast cancer at the time. I only came to grips with it when I had my own bout with cancer and understood the ramifications of cancer.

Our friends barely asked not because they didn't care. They knew she would open up at the right time and she did. Her family ran for the hills and is still on the run. All have been written off except her nephew.

The fun part was watching the look on peoples faces when she didn't have a thread of hair. The wig thing was way too hot plus the hot flashes.

Did they bring food or send flowers or a card or ask if they could do anything to help?

If yes then OK to ask. If not then I'm leaning towards nosy or morbid curiosity.

Ya, not even close, I waved hello to a neighbor. I don’t live in that bizarro world where everything you do is a threat.

Honestly I don’t think that either. We’ve been neighbors for 3+ yrs with no issues. Haven’t talked much at all but always waved while we’re out doing yard work. For all I know his phone was ringing in the house or something and it was sheer coincidence. Either way I got less than a year left in Mass and counting so not a big deal.

Well shit, if you disturbed my sleep at 11:58 at night, I'd be pissed too. Though I doubt your neighbor aspires to going to bed at 8pm and waking up at 4am unless he works construction.

Also my apologies to the OP @Paul455 if I’m derailing this thread, I was under the impression that it was a “my neighbor grrrrr.....thread” and not a particular rant until the story about your wife being sick, so hopefully I didn’t f*** this thread all up on you.

Hope she’s better by the day brother. Best.
