Non marring holster

Ok, ready for it, in 3....2...1...[pics]

To the op.
I would at this point, lie my ass off and say it was an extremely rare dead head German Luger.
When they ask why that pistol?
I would say it is because it is the only pistol that feels good in your hands and you can't find an appendix holster for it.[smile]

All is well and good until that's used in a DGU and lost in the evidence locker

Hence, why I said get a Glock earlier. [smile]
It could be one of those Vickers Tactical Limited Edition Glock pistols.[popcorn]

I can see how that's going to go now:

"Sorry, we have no record of that firearm"
"ITS RIGHT THERE IN YOUR HOLSTER"
"Excuse me? This is my police issued sidearm"
"I can make out the god damned serial number you moron!"
"SIR, ARE YOU TRYING TO FILE A FALSE POLICE REPORT?"

One fun thing that I've noticed cuz I don't really think that Kydex will really mar most finishes worth carrying, all by itself.. I think what it really is is the action of holstering and unholstering the gun.... if it's just sitting there most of the time it's not really going to do much. I'm going to guess that blued guns are probably not going to hold up as well if it's traditional Bluing.... but anything else you'd have to do a shitload of action with your holster to actually start wearing the finish down like I'm carrying a g19 on my hip from 2008 , and if I clean the gun you would still think it was pretty much almost new despite the fact that the thing has like ten thousand rounds through it, and has been carried many many many days...... I mean granted stuff like Glock at HK finishes are very tough compared to the norm but still. Let me put this out there is a point of comparison... I watched a video where a dude had a Dan Wesson specialist 1911 with black duty coat, just like the one that I do... and he trained with it on the reg and put over 10,000 rounds through it, and basically the only wear that you can see on his gun is from all of the holstering an unholstering that he does with training, it was pretty limited it was really only on the corners of the slide where the holstered first contacted the gun.... if he went to sell the thing he would still get most of his money back, I'll just leave it at that.... A few years ago I also bought my CZ shadow CT back from a great fellow NESer who shot at a shitload and also competed with it in the thing has barely any finish wear and I bet he carried it exclusively in Kydex while competing with it. Let's put it this way the average carrier, is not doing LE duty wear with the things.. like getting duck sauce and donut jelly and powdered sugar, coffee on the gun or bashing it off door frames getting in and out of buildings or rolling on the ground with it with criminals or whatever.... actually the only gun that I had that was sort of precious I carried it numerous times and incurred no frame damage... it was a P7M8 ... and that thing was basically blued. Did I carry it a ton? No. but I carried it at least a few dozen times and incurred no damage carrying it in leather... honestly I think a greater risk of damaging a gun that's used in daily use is if you like dropped it on concrete or something. For most people carrying it in a holster is pretty polite. Granted and saying this if you sweat like a pig or something and it runs into the holster all bets are off but nobody is going to be doing that kind of stuff with a barbecue gun....

What’s the point of owning a collectible gun if you don’t use it?
So someone else has it?
Carry what you want.

I think leather is safest, but I’ve got a bunch of guns that have only been in leather and the blue has worn off. But it wears mush slower than Kydex does.

Here I go again, define 'collectible'.

A historic piece, Earp's SAA (or whatever he used) from the OK Corral? Um, no. Not going to carry it.
A 1942 era 1911, ok, maybe, if you made it reliable. If you made it reliable, you modified it, it loses it's value. It's 'historic', but has no significant 'history' associated with it.
Is my Kimber Warrior a 'collectible'? Maybe, it's pretty enough, maybe some MARSOC guy would want it eventually since it's the MARSOC spec for civilians. I only bought it because EBR's were made of unobtainium during the Big O years, and I had that amount of money set aside for a purchase.

To me 'collectible' is like a 'collectible' car. It's worth more unmolested. Carrying a weapon is going to mar it. You're going to bang it into a table/door/wall.

My next toy may be a late 60's Mustang. It's getting a fuel injected motor, because it's better. It's getting a suspension out of a more modern car, because it's better. It will destroy the 'collectible' status of the car, but it will work for me. It will be worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

Your kidding. Right?
Maybe a magnetic force shield kinda rig would work.
If it’s collectible then leave it home and get something you are willing to drop on the ground.
There's something to seeing a higher end firearm pointed your way. Namely the idea that one usually wouldn't have that type of thing unless they are really into it, hence probably quite proficient with it as well. If some punk points a rusty thing at me I'm more likely to try to take it so I can beat him about the head with it as I give him a Stern talking to. On the other hand someone, even a young punk looking person, would have immediate compliance if they pointed a $5k 1911 custom built at me. Just saying.

What if it's just a Glock but with a fancy punisher back plate? You won't be able to see the back plate when it's pointed at you. So you'll have no idea he's really into it?

First, sorry about your thinking a back plate for a glock is fancy. Second, I'll find out (hopefully) when i kick it out of their dying hands. Third, point is, carry what you want and what is right for you.

Everyone knows that a slug out of a HiPoint isn't as deadly as the same slug out of a 1911. Why? Because the HiPoint didn't win two world wars! NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!

Garrett Industries makes kydex holsters lined with leather, keeps your finish and makes the draw quiet. Made in Texas.

Got the same set up for my 938 as well. Leather lined is the way to go with kydex (IMO) + the Silent Thunder allows you to tuck in your shirt for really deep concealment. They make a great holster!

I can recommend the Wright Leather Works’ Master Collection. It’s one of the few products for which I’ve actually written a positive review. Great holster, really holds the gun well, yet easy to draw from and re-holster. As long as you keep it clean inside and oiled there is minimal holster wear. They only provide holsters for guns they have on hand so they can be sure they fit perfectly and they do have a Makarov PM 9x18 on hand.
