No Money. If I have two, should I sell/trade one for something else?

I've never been one to have two of anything as I like having one of everything, which in itself will never happen with my limited discretionary funds. I do though find myself at this point with two sets of the same firearms and wondering if I should sell/trade one for something else. Right now I have two M1 Garands. One is a SA dated around 1943 and one H&R dated in the late 40s. Most likely used in Korea. I also have a set of S&W 629s. Both 1" bbls with unfluted cyclinders. One is a 629-1 pre-lock and the other was just built recently post-lock.

Eh, I'm so on the fence about parting with one of them though. So what's your vote. Split them or keep them??????

What do you want to replace them with?

I wouldn't give up the garands, that's just me.

Maybe the 629 post lock will get you some coin to use towards something nice?

629's with 1" barrels? Those must be a handful!

I'd keep the M1 that is in the best condition, preferably the '43 though. Sell the other one. Sell the revolver with the stupid internal lock.

Without knowing anything else, I'd keep the Garand that shoots better and dump the 629 that has the internal lock on it. Then use the cash for more 30-06 (before the price goes full retard once all the milsurp dries up) or buy something else with the money.

That is a hard decision for sure but I think others have it right - keep the Garands and sell off the newer 629

Same here but I'm pretty sure that it was a typo

Probably, but with un-fluted cylinders they ~could~ have been some sort of limited edition Performance Center or 3rd party custom jobs. S&W did / does make at least one version of a snub-nosed .44 mag, but with a 2.625" barrel.

You have to admit, that's a pretty wheel gun... (Actually kind of looks like the one that Cast Boolits did a group buy on a year or so ago....)

My mistake. I incorrectly put 1 inch bbls instead of what they are which are 3 inch bbls. To answer a few questions, yeah, they can definitely be a handful using magnum loads. As to what I want, well I'm not 100% sure. Just something else. I've been looking to start a Saiga 12 project, but not sure its worth letting go one of these for it. I've also been looking for a lever action w/ an octagon bbl in either 357 or 44mag. Then again, I'm partial to 1911s other then S&W and SA. At this point I'm leaning towards one of the 629s. Probably the post-lock model. It's basically NIB as I've only put 5 rounds down the bbl to test functionality when I bought it.

Since you clearly did not obtain those on your own I think you should re-distribute the wealth. Other people paid for the roads you used to drive on to get to work and to the gun shop. Why would you ever allow greed to stand in your way and maintain ownership of these guns? Perhaps you will see the light and help your fellow man. Let a little sunshine in!

In the spirit of the Occupy movement: you have two garands, I have none, so you should give me one! [smile]

I have two ARs both preban: one 20" and one 16". I sold my third--not sure if I should have. I agree with the others: sell the lock 629 if you trust the prelock.
