NJ HICAP Mag Catch 22

Comrade Corzine With The Help Of The State Police Have Already Started
I just received the following notification from the NRA affiliate in the PRNJ; the ANJRPC. It appears that Comrade Corzine is not in office even one week and already his war against the second amendment is well underway. The goal of this despot is to criminalize actions of legal gun owners in a prelude to complete gun confiscation. Please say a prayer for those trapped in this cesspool.
HONEST GUN OWNERS MADE INSTANT CRIMINALS BY STATE POLICE RULING ON BLOCKED MAGAZINES

Two days after Governor Jon Corzine took office, the Superintendent of State Police issued a letter to New Jersey firearms dealers that appears to turn honest gun owners who possess temporarily blocked large capacity magazines into criminals with no apparent means of complying with the law.

The letter, dated January 19, is an attempt to unilaterally reverse the Department of Law and Public Safety's policy -- in effect for more than 8 years -- allowing possession of large capacity magazines that have been temporarily blocked. The letter prohibits gun dealers from selling the blocked magazines and restates a requirement that they report the disposition of any large capacity magazines to the State Police within 48 hours.

"This is the worst kind of policy making thoughtless, secretive, and outside of public scrutiny," said Scott Bach, President of the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs and a member of the NRA Board of Directors.

New Jersey law prohibits the manufacture, sale, transport, possession or disposal of magazines capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition. But at least two prior declaratory rulings from the Department of Law and Public Safety specifically excepted temporarily blocked magazines from these prohibitions. For nearly a decade, thousands of buyers and sellers have relied on these rulings.

The new letter is an apparent attempt to circumvent required procedure to effect a rules change. The Superintendent tried in 2002 to amend the Administrative Code on this issue, but the amendment failed due to overwhelming opposition from gun owners. What could not be obtained through proper procedure has now been enacted unilaterally through bureaucratic decree with no notice or hearing.

The new letter appears to instantly turn those already in possession of temporarily blocked large capacity magazines into criminals with no means of complying with the law. Even transportation and disposal of such magazines is prohibited by law, and permanently blocking the magazines could be deemed evidence tampering.

"The Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs intends to vigorously challenge this action," said Bach.

Just wait until Massachusetts bans any handguns that can accept high cap mags. That's coming I'm sure. I'm quite confident that hollow point bullets are next. They are already banned in NJ.

Ya just have to tell yourself that IT's FOR THE CHILDREN....and that it takes a village, afterall.

I find it interesting that NJ's new gov went straight for the gun laws there.

A LEO was telling me his PD (I forget wich one it was) was planning on banning HP bullets.

At the meeting they stepped forward and said:

"It's Ok if you ban HP ammo....but we're going to have to shoot people more."

They're still carrying JHP.

Yeah, you are correct....but in New Jersey hollow points are only banned for civilians much in the same way here that cops can carry brand new Glocks or other firearms currently banned in Mass.

They have theirs and that is what matters, you just have to remember that the police are your friends and that they are looking out for your best interests since you are a civilian (their commonly used term, not mine).

Yes, it will be hard, and there will be sacrifice....but it is a small price to pay when it is for the children, afterall. [twisted]

oh yeah I forgot that even though the PDs here my concede and allow us unwashed hethans actully own guns...maybe even trust us to carry guns concealed.....but still we are never expected to use them, not even to protect human life form "misunderstood individuals from an opressed social class" [roll]

Grrrrr

...shall not be infringed.

...shall not be infringed.

...shall not be infringed.

...shall not be infringed.

...shall not be infringed.

...shall not be infringed.

...shall not be infringed.

...shall not be infringed.

I know I'm preaching to the choir ... But what's so hard to understand about "Shall not be infringed"?

yeah! I remember when I first really started studying gun control.

where was the first place I went? The US Constitution.

I must have read that 2A 30 times.....Just amazed at how much interpritation of it I've heard, and it's SO SIMPLE AND CONCICE!!!

I don't see why there is a problem.

Ok I do see the problem: The Corrupt lefties know we wouldn't vote for them if they weren't keeping ther constituants down. So they Opress, and tell us THEY are keeping us safe.

No thanks Teddy, I'll watch my own back....and no I don't need a ride!

If George Bush can try to get a consitutional ammendment passed to ban burning the flag, then perhaps while he's doing that important work to protect us all from the horror of burning flags, we could get the 2nd ammendment ammended to remove the "militia" part entirely.

In reality, though, I think a constitutional convention would be a disaster.
