The Senate Judiciary just scheduled a hearing on HB1660.

This coming Tuesday 3/3 at 9:15am, the 2020 'HB1660 Eldercare Gun Confiscation Act' will have a hearing.

Why does that matter?
1. This is BEFORE the standard crossover deadline of the end of March.
2. This is also AFTER the standard 2nd house committee (CJ&PS) waived off the 2nd committee session so as NOT to hear from the gun owners. This is VERY untypical.
3. This is before they have even made a committee decision on SB677.

This is clear evidence that they want to push this bill though the legislature and get it to the Governor's desk before the other bills. NOW is time to call the Governor and if you can at all take time off of work, you need to show up on Tuesday to tell the committee NO!!! The legislature used to refer to this tactic as a Rocket Docket. The goal is to pass the bill BEFORE the public is aware of it....

Well, they just did that. We NEED to get involved NOW!!!

CALL 603-271-2121, the Governors office

For the record, HB687 (The initial Red Flag bill from last year) which passed the House on January 9th) still has not been introduced into the Senate, but the bill that passed last week already has a hearing. The Anti-Gun Dems had just made this their # 1 priority to pass this year.

Docket for HB687

vs. Docket for HB1660

Can’t win in a debate so they ram it through as “emergency” legislation. Did the same BS in MA. The voters in NH need to punish these lawmakers that pull this bs. Unlike here in MA where even Republicans (my coward State Rep and Gov Faker) signed this crap into lawr

There is more:
This bill is now ahead of the initial 2019 RED FLAG bill, HB687. That bill is still in the House
This bill has massive legal issues, but the House leadership did not want to address those issues. So instead of fixing the issues, they have expedited the hearings to pass this quickly.
They want this to pass. There are ONLY (2) 20 House bills that this has happened to this year. A famliy medical leave act and this Gun Confiscation Bill

Latest alert from NHFC:

Anti-Gun Legislators rushing to enact "Red Flag" Gun Confiscation before the end of March

We just found out that the anti-gun *leadership* in the New Hampshire State House has decided that HB1660 a RED FLAG 'Eldercare Gun Confiscation Bill' is a *must* pass bill. The bill as been sent over to the Senate, ahead of all of the other bills and there is a hearing on Tuesday, March 3rd at 9:15am. [State House Room 100].

This is the same anti-gun committee that heard SB469, the '2020 Sen. Jeanne Dietsch Range Closure Act" and did not move the hearing to a larger room to allow the many gun owners a chance to participate in the hearing.

The have just made this Gun Confiscation bill a top legislative priority to get to the Governor's desk and we need everyone on board with stopping it.

WE NEED YOU THERE!

At a minimum, please contact the Governor's office at 603-271-2121 AND to Email the committee.

Red Flag Laws are BAD, and here is why. [Link to AmmoLand Red Flag Article]

By now you have undoubtedly heard that our legislature has become enamored with the latest anti-gun tactic called “Red Flag” Laws or Extreme Risk Protective Orders (ERPO). Even some Republicans and so called gun rights supporters and gun rights organizations have joined the ranks of Moms Demand Action (Bloomberg funded), Everytown for Gun Safety, Alliance for Gun Responsibility (Gifford’s group) and other anti-gun groups in their quest to confiscate weapons.
In 2013 when the Consortium for Risk-Based Firearm Policy first convened (the group that first conceived and promoted the concept), they quickly moved away from addressing mental health issues in order to address “dangerous behavior”. They also admitted that the primary goal was to develop “a legal tool to remove firearms” from those who might be considered or reported to be dangerous.
To be very clear, ERPO’s/Red Flag Laws are intended to remove firearms…this is the primary goal of this movement! If you are still not convinced, take a look at who wrote the original framework of ERPO’s Back in 2013: The Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence, Joyce Foundation and the New Venture Fund.
The Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence is a sister organization to Coalition to Stop Gun Violence which had its beginnings in a group called National Coalition to Ban Handguns. According to Wikipedia, this group advocated for and established the goal of: requiring licensing of gun owners, registering firearms, and banning private ownership of handguns. The Joyce Foundation has as one of their 3 primary objectives: “Reducing gun violence through state policy reform, research, education, and legal strategies. The New Venture Fund is considered by many as a “dark money” organization, serving as a way for left-leaning groups to anonymously funnel money toward various political advocacy issues” according to Influence Watch.
They all want to take your guns!
So why NH?
New Hampshire Firearms Coalition recently posted some interesting statistics about the state of NH, including the fact that it is ranked as the 3rd safest state in the country, and has one of the highest gun ownership rates of any state. Still, our liberal legislature is attempting to force ERPO’s upon its citizens through 5 different bills! What is worse, some so-called Republican and conservative gun advocates either co-sponsored or supported these bills (SB-677, SB-574, HB-687, HB-1509, HB-1660)! There is no honest, objective reason to push for gun control in a state as safe and gun friendly as New Hampshire.
In examining ERPO’s, they have a number of unconstitutional faults:
No Due Process
In the words of Attorney Michael Hammond “due process which occurs only after someone has lost all their constitutional rights is no "due process" at all.”
Ex Parte hearings
Hearings do not allow the aggrieved to present an argument or legal defense of their constitutional rights. The Confrontation Clause found in the Sixth Amendment provides that “in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right…to be confronted with the witnesses against him.” (The Truth about Guns)
Contradicts the 2nd amendment
The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. ERPO’s confiscate weapons, regardless of what the left wants you to think.
Guns are not the problem

Americans own hundreds of millions of guns, and only a miniscule fraction of one percent of those guns are ever used to harm anyone. (AmmoLand)
Red Flag Laws don’t reduce Risk
ERPO’s do not remove knives, poison, car keys and other means by which an individual could end their life or harm others. Guns are unfairly, and insidiously singled out and targeted.

Even the liberal ACLU has voiced concerns with ERPO’s. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Rhode Island, for instance, has serious qualms with that state’s red flag law.
“In a 14-page analysis, the organization last year took issue with “the breadth of this legislation, its impact on civil liberties, and the precedent it sets for the use of coercive measures against individuals, not because they are alleged to have committed any crime, but because somebody believes they might, someday, commit one.” (Salon, March 2019)

New Hampshire Firearms Coalition is leading the charge in Concord to stop these types of bills, and the dangerous movement to rid law abiding citizens of their firearms and God-given rights.
We need all gun owners, shooting ranges, FFL/gun dealers and constitutionally minded citizens to join us in the fight to save New Hampshire and the freedoms we currently have.
Call your representative and senator today.
Call Governor Sununu at 271-2121 TODAY, and let him know that we don’t need Red Flag laws in NH, nor do we need any further gun restrictions.

Letter from NHFC about this weeks bills:

There is no end to the anti-gun onslaught in Concord this legislative season.
Senate:
In the Senate, HB1660, 'ELDERCARE GUN CONFISCATION', was passed by the committee and is being voted on by the full Senate on Wednesday. Call your Senator and the Governor 603-271-2121 and demand that this bill be killed. This is urgent; we are hearing that the Anti-Gun politicians want to send this bill to the Governor's Desk as soon as next week.
Ammoland did a great write up on why these RED FLAG, ERPO bills are bad bills. [click here for more details].

House:

This is an extra-busy week on the House floor by the full House of Representatives. These are the firearms related bills coming before the full House for a vote this week: Please contact your own State Reps and ask them to oppose passage of these bills. Your State Rep can be found here: http://gencourt.state.nh.us/house/members/default.aspx

HB1349 – “Establishing a committee to study firearms incidents involving children with access to unsecured firearms.” Primarily a Democrat bill with 1 Republican supporting it. As the state ranked 3rd in terms of safety, and with one of the highest firearm ownership in the country, do we need to enact legislation to require that firearms are locked, separated from ammo, and secured at all times? Further, “The committee shall study the scope, causes of, and factors involved in firearms incidents involving children.” NH has no gun violence issue, is extremely safe, and there is no need to form a committee to study a problem that does not exist. NHFC OPPOSES HB1349

HB1257 – “establishing a committee to study the opportunities for citizen involvement in attorney general investigations of officer involved shootings.” [NHFC is watching this bill]

HB 1350 – ‘The 2020 Gun Lock Tax’ “Requiring a locking safety device be provided for commercial firearm sales and transfers.” Without the least bit of statistical evidence to support their assertion, the bill reports that it is in everyone’s best interest to keep guns locked up to prevent accidents, injury or suicide. In this case, the legislature is mandating that all dealers, any gun show re-sellers of firearms and any citizen transfers must provide a locking device with the firearm, but there is an exemption for the buyer if they have a safe. Huh? The truth is that what our representatives are doing is attempting to force gun owners to keep their firearms under lock and key so that they won’t be accessible…that won’t work very well in an emergency situation and is not needed in NH. Remember, when seconds count…police are only minutes away. If the left gets their way, access to your firearm in an emergency will take even longer. The other major negative is this will drive up prices of firearms. NHFC OPPOSES HB1350

HB 1374 – ‘Surrender and Destroy Firearms Act’ The bill repeals the statute governing the voluntary surrender of firearms. Basically our legislature wants to make it so that voluntarily surrendered firearms can be destroyed instead of being sold or re-purposed by the state. This makes NO sense! HB1374 is clearly intended to destroy firearms, and that is just another indicator of just how far left our legislature has become. NHFC stands with leaving the existing law as currently written. NHFC OPPOSES HB1374

HB 1608 – ‘The 2020 Magazine Ban’ “Prohibiting the manufacture, sale, transfer, and possession of large capacity ammunition feeding devices.” This is strictly a Democrat sponsored bill. We knew this was coming, and here it is. Your representatives want to make it illegal to purchase or sell a rifle that holds more than 10 rounds, or a handgun that holds more than 15 rounds. Violations would be a class A misdemeanor. Since when does NH have a problem with these firearms? There is no constitutional basis for this law, nor any supporting statistical evidence that his bill is necessary…NHFC vigorously opposes this bill because statistics don’t lie. According to Statista, rifles were responsible for less deaths than from blunt objects, personal weapons (fists), other weapons not defined, and knives. Large capacity magazines don’t hurt anyone; people pull triggers, and facts don’t lie. NHFC OPPOSES HB1608

HB 1285 – ‘Criminal Empowerment Zones’ or “relative to possession of firearms on school property” bill. This is another Democrat only sponsored bill…no Republicans sponsored it. Besides making our kids unprotected targets, this bill will make law abiding citizens instant criminals should they stop to watch a ball game, pick up their kids or drive through a campus. “Founded by gun rights advocate John Lott, the Crime Prevention Research Center tracks mass shootings and whether they occur in “gun-free” zones. Between January 1998 and December 2015, the gun-advocacy group says 96.2% of mass public shootings occurred in gun-free zones.” (Azcentral.com) Gun free zones don’t work, and actually will make targets of our kids. NHFC OPPOSES HB1285

HB 1143 – “Repealing limited liability for manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition.” 100% partisan bill with only Democrat support. This bill allows for the radical left to shut down gun and ammo manufacturers and dealers by suing them to death. Currently there are provisions that limit this from happening which makes sense…do we sue Chevrolet when a drunk driver kills an innocent bystander? NOPE, but the left wants to get rid of guns, and by allowing lawsuits it opens the door to do so through this insidious bill. People pull triggers, and people need to take responsibility for their own actions, or be held responsible by law. NHFC VIGOROUSLY OPPOSES HB1143

HB 1115 – “Relative to the discharge of a firearm in the compact part of a city or town.” Another 100% partisan bill with no Republican support. Raises the legal distance from structures for the discharge of a firearm from 300’ to 900’. Also allows towns to create their own rules and designations. Another way the left is making it harder for law abiding citizens to use firearms…incrementalism at its worst. The committee recommended that this bill be killed. NHFC OPPOSES HB1115 and agrees with the committee that the bill should be killed.

HB 1159 – “Political Incumbent Protection Act”, “Relative to cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and doxxing of a public servant.” Another 100% partisan Democrat bill with no Republican support. While not directly affecting firearms owners, this bill is very concerning for the following reasons. If you criticize a public official, you can be charged with a misdemeanor. If they make up a false allegation of being afraid of you after you criticize them, you can be charged with a misdemeanor. If you reveal their address, phone # or location, you can be charged with a misdemeanor. This sounds like a dystopian future on steroids, and buffers government employees needlessly from rightful review and public input, all by abridging citizens constitutionally protected right to free speech. NHFC vigorously opposes this bill. This bill is intended to shut down outside groups from publishing the records and contact information for those in office. NHFC OPPOSES HB1159

By now you should be seeing a dangerous trend happening at our state house. The radical left has hijacked the legislature and is ramming unnecessary, unconstitutional bills down the throats of NH citizens. Each of these bills are intended to attack, and abridge the rights of gun owners, and to further restrict how and where gun owners will be allowed to exercise their rights.

It is time to say NO MORE to these out of control Gun Grabbers, and take back our state.
For Liberty,

Kirk Beswick

I am a soon to be NH resident so I’m pretty sure Sununu has his red veto pen in condition 1 with trigger finger straight and ready to sign.......I hope!!

I've only been a NH resident since last summer and all of these bills are making me nervous. I've never bothered writing to elected officials before but now it seems like I am doing it every week.

Cost of living in a bloomberg targeted state.

I see most of these bills passing and the governor signing off, sad but that's what happens when you don't vote.
What's even more sad is that when you do vote, your vote is outnumbered by those that vote against constitutional rights and you get stuck with the consequences of their voting and even worse is when the vote does go the right way but the government does what it wants anyways since they suffer no consequences for their actions.
