Next steps if Tarr's act fails

DeLeo was on the radio today saying it will be decided in the courts.

It's obvious that DeLeo doesn't care about Due Process for the People and that allowing the AG, a non-legislator, to make/change/redefine a law or laws is setting a dangerous precedent. Apparently, he also doesn't care that this issue will possibly cost the taxpayers of this state millions of dollars to drag this out through lengthy lawsuits.

Somehow, we need to redefine our position on this matter because emailing, calling, visiting (all worthwhile efforts), may not change anything, although I am not even hinting that any of this should stop.

Gun owners are a "minority" and like other minority groups have done and accomplished, we need to start demanding that we will not accept additional infringements on our civil rights.

My state senator (Brownsberger) appears to agree that this is an overreach by the AG but that the proper venue for resolution would be via the courts. I imagine someone would have to have standing to sue. Does someone need to get busted by the police for an illegal assault weapon and spend a life-ruining amount of money defending themselves against felony criminal charges for that to happen? Because man, I feel awful for the poor person who ends up being the test case.
IMNSHO the suit might have to come from the dealer (or manufacturer) side. They're the ones who have received the letters. Beyond that, I'll not speculate.

Sadly, we remain very much on the defensive, we just dont know what there next move is.....

Do they sit tight and consider it a win, or do they go to next stage and start arresting people?

So many of us are on the record as having purchased these rifles during this time period, guess the knock on the door could come at any time? I don't see what's stopping them

The other option. And it's a horrible one. Is to push for amnesty when we did nothing wrong. And still let the courts sort it out.

Then, in my opinion, your senator is on the wrong side of this and is in opposition to the Second Amendment, due process, and the separation of powers in our government and deserves to lose his job in the next election. "I agree that this is terrible, but we have to wait for the courts" is a dodge to get out of doing anything while trying to keep your vote by misleading you into thinking he's "on your side".

Maybe it's just late and I'm frustrated and tired, but I'm beginning to think the BLM folks have a point with the whole chaining themselves to traffic-blocking obstructions and things. I'm going to step away from the computer and get some sleep now.

Doing so doesn't fit the media narrative. If BLM does it they're fighting for freedom from cop oppression and institutional racism. If we did it we'd just be a bunch of ammosexual gun nuts trying to make the world less safe. But which of the groups is less likely to smash windows and loot stores, I wonder?

The MA constitution is null and void and not worth the paper that John Adams scribed it on.
It goes beyond RTBA.
A single individual from the executive branch can make up laws and enforce at their will.
All hail the King.

Article XX. The power of suspending the laws, or the execution of the laws, ought never to be exercised but by the legislature, or by authority derived from it, to be exercised in such particular cases only as the legislature shall expressly provide for. [See Amendments, Arts. XLVIII, I, Definition and LXXXIX.]

Article XXIV. Laws made to punish for actions done before the existence of such laws, and which have not been declared crimes by preceding laws, are unjust, oppressive, and inconsistent with the fundamental principles of a free government.

Article XXX. In the government of this commonwealth, the legislative department shall never exercise the executive and judicial powers, or either of them: the executive shall never exercise the legislative and judicial powers, or either of them: the judicial shall never exercise the legislative and executive powers, or either of them: to the end it may be a government of laws and not of men.

Not to mention we all can't afford to get arrested, BLM gets arrested and they get street cred. We get arrested we become prohibited and they win again.

non compliance, simply that. be quiet, do as you will, continue to abide by constitutional laws. do onto others blah blah. **** the media, stop watching their biased interpretations. i know that you all seek to follow the word of law, but all laws are made to take things from you, the politicians have only the power that we give them. stop giving them power.sorry im ranting, but i do as i see fit, i am a peaceable person,i know that the criminal cares not for the laws, i must do what is necessary to defend me and mine, the duty of defense is mine alone, not the police, not the ag, they exist to draw the chalklines. disarming me does not protect me no matter what the ag says. defending my family i must have and will have sufficient firepower to counter the criminal or confiscator alike.

A public, concerted effort to practice non-compliance is the best approach. This puts power where it belongs: in the hands of the people. The AG is only as powerful as citizens allow her to be. Call her bluff.

Waiting for the courts to decide, or waiting for legislators to play politics with your civil liberty puts power in the hands of the government.

This crisis affects more than just MA gun owners.

I'm not necessarily saying I'm totally against the idea, but mass disobedience may be just the catalyst the AG and the anti set in the state are looking for. No, she can't prosecute everyone, obviously, but I can imagine a situation where the antis scream that her measures obviously didn't go far enough, and that actual confiscation is the next logical step.

Again, I'm not preaching against disobedience here specifically, merely pointing out that it's a road whereupon the travelers will have to decide how far they're willing to go.

Maybe we should take the playbook from the left. You know lots of people start tearing up when they see things. Maybe it's time to use their own tactics against them. I mean chain ourselves together and block the road. A t-shirt that says "I am not a felon". A catchy phrase for the cause.

If they want to let loose the dogs of war, let them. This state needs to be abolished.

I'm pretty sure (according to our founding fathers) she did "let loose the dogs of war". Along with DeLeo. Rosenburg, Baker, etc. I'm just sitting over here waiting for the hammer to drop....

The problems with a court challenge are:

- It will take years to be adjudicated, likely 2-5 years,
- Activist judges are likely to rule against us, more likely than not,
- Some people will be convicted, lose their jobs, their homes and families even if not sent to prison . . . and become Federal PPs for life!

Problem is that only works if you have a protected class do it.

Someone should bring up what would happen if 300k + left this shithole. I know it's semantics. They'll just tax the shit out of everyone and everything else. Such is the price for a socialist utopia. Just look at CT.

Start a petition to recall Speaker DeLeo for complying with this abuse of power and not doing his job to stop it, I an sure if written competently it would be signed by hundreds of thousands, our families, members of Sportsmans' clubs, co-workers, everyone

This is MA. You aren't getting a new law. I've said since day 1 that this will go to the courts - maybe the USSC. Who wants to be the test case?

Great idea. Mine would say
Executive
Father
Boy Scout leader

And now....
CRIMINAL

That is him dodging the issue because he supports it. If the AG continued in this manner after something like Tarr's bill was passed, then the courts would need to be used. This is a cop out on his part, plus he knows the courts are filled with anti gun people. Not passing this also strengthens the AGs position when it gets to court.

we have to realize where we live. this has happened before, remember the sales tax issue the legislature in this state does

what it wants, F**k the rest of us. Best way to solve this problem is to move (if you can) otherwise your pissing up a rope.
