Got my first piece today..

Ruger P345.

Kind of wish I got a compact weapon but none of the ones I wanted were mass compliant, thanks Attourney General..

Was wondering if anyone owns one and how they like it.

Wish I had a pic for ya but I dont know how to upload stuff on here..

Lastly, anyone know any nice holsters for it? Brand names..

You got yourself a great gun there. I'll save you the trouble of posting (unless, of course, you got the blued slide. In which case, you are required by law to share a pic with the rest of us).

Also my first.

I read somewhere that it prefers the heavier rounds. I've been shooting 230-gr. FMJ almost exclusively. I keep it loaded in the pistol safe at home with Federal 230-gr. JHP's.

The only stuff it didn't care for was the cheap Blazer ammo (aluminum cased).

A friend gave me a box of low-recoil Federal JHP rounds (185-gr. I think). I plan on trying them out before using them as my HD round.

The only think I've done to it is cut a piece of mountain bike inner tube to make a "custom" fit grip for it. makes for a real soid grip, also good if your hands are on the big side.

Keep us posted on how you like it.

I've only shot it once, as a rental from Manchester Firing Line. I liked it, but the one I was using was very dirty and had several FTF and Stovepipes in the course of 100rounds.

It's a nice looking gun too, and for $400 a deal I'd say.

congrats.

Re: ammo - every gun will prefer different ammo - even amongst the same make model. Buy a few different kinds and weights and have a blast at the range.

Same for defense rounds if you'll be carrying it.

Congrats!!

I bought one when first came out early ones, had alot of feeding problems. I end up trading it in for a sig. But I hear Ruger has fixed the most of the problems. You might want to go on Ruger forum they have lots of info on 345.Good luck I know its a well built solid weapon and I might own another again in the future.

kiditsmaug, i know it's been a while since you posted but i just picked up a new P345 as well last (last night, 4 Seasons). Have you had any luck with a holster? I grabbed a cheap IWB off the shelf last night just to have one on hand and try it out, slightly uncomfortable given the size of the gun and the size of the pants (probably a size to small). Let me know how you made out.

Did you get a class A in New Bedford With no Restrictions?

Do you have a holster for it? trying to find a nice comfortable one that conceals great without buying one and finding out it sucks

Also my first.

Everyone has their pet holster, and I have gone through several, but my latest
purchase is the best yet. I have an Andrews Leather McDaniel II for my sig
P245 (not too different in size) and it is very comfortable, draws really fast, and
conceals a big gun very well thanks to the 'torque plate" thingie.

I was poking arounf the Ruger Forum for more holster info, and it seems the Fobus SG5 for the Sig Pro not only fits the P345, but Fobus is labeling it as such.

Might be worth checking out.

Anyone know how close those will hold the gun to one's body?

That said, I'm DYING to take the Ruger out for some range time. It's been way too long.

I just have an IWB. Cheap Uncle Mikes. Gets the job done. I got a tactical holster for the woods. I'm waiting to get a small Sig and picking up a ankle holster for my main carry weapon, so i'm not gonna bother buying an expensive holster for my Ruger

+1 on the Uncle Mikes.... I have a few of the sidekicks... they're cheap for
IWB but they work pretty good. The only thing I don't like about them is
that re-holstering is not practical without unclipping the holster and putting
the gun back in the holster, then putting the gun + holster back in your
pants. It's hard to complain for the price, though.
