New Online Firearm License Application System

I received this in the mail today.

I'm roughly 4 months out from expiration/renewal.....

So, while I initially posted this LTC expiration reminder to point out the update about the online application process, the bottom section about firearms transfers is also interesting given what has been said about the new law.

Did they just forget to update this section, or do they believe the EFA-10 is still part of the law?

I know that’s true but can you site proof that I can show other people?

Tried using the on line portal.
It won’t let me upload a picture of the firearms affidavit. Says only a pdf can be uploaded.
Any one else have an issue.
Looks like I’m headed to the pd for an application

Alright MAjoe,that did it.
Thank you
One more thing if you please gents.
They ask about previous licenses, with the state and a date range.
I have current Maine and NH non res.
They are not expired and the portal won’t let me enter a future date for when they expire.
Am I missing something there?

Had same issue with dates.

I put the approximate year for my first issued out of state licenses. Jan 1.

You cant put in the expiration date beyond today's date.

I just put in today's date.

This is a known issue.

They'll figure it out.

Glad that fixed the upload issue, sorry I can’t help with the date thing. I’d call the FRB after the holidays.

They are not previous licenses; they are current licenses.

The licenses used to be signed by "Charles Bronson", that was the best part. 🤣
That was indeed cool.

I wish I still had one of my really old RI licenses - I think I turned in in when picking up a renewal. If you go back a few years, they were laminated yellowish card stock, and if you go way back they were laminated white card stock. Before they went to the standard credit card sized plastic, the AG actually signed each AG issued license. I had Sheldon Whitehouse's actual (not printed tot stamped) autograph on my RI carry permit for a year. I tink it was in felt tip.

I know someone who actually knew a formed RI AG in the "real signature" days. He got a call from the AG - "I noticed you name when signing carry permits and just wanted to see how you were doing, we haven't spoken in years".

Actual language reads:
Have you ever held a license to carry in another state.
Tx
I remember checking with Michaela about this a few years ago. Yes, they want you to list info on every gun license that you ever possessed, current or expired. Makes no sense to me wrt expired, but that is the decision that FRB has made.

Wonder if they’ll start including the new law around if you present an expired card it must be confiscated by an FFL and the licensing authority informed.
I’m now 3 weeks past my expiration date and have my receipt for renewal submitted. I went online to check out the portal a couple of days ago, it shows Active status. No worries.

Current licenses since when?

I got my first non res for many different states some 20 years ago and kept them current.

Therefore I put the starting date as for the date of issue for the first time I got each particular non res license.

Every state license I have applied for asked that or a similar question. I think RI wanted the numbers and expiration dates, but maybe that was Texas. I think even PA wanted to know that.

I think most people wont even remember the numbers of expiration dates of CCW's from decades ago.

Considering you can't even put the proper dates in I'd be surprised the state would care if such information is incomplete.

If the system wont even allow for future dates, how can anybody expect to put in past CCW's from decades ago.

I for one keep all my old CCW permits. I must have a stack of 20 of them.

I don't think even more than 3 can be entered, anyway.

Check your junk folder!
I have been. Still nothing. When I try to go back and make a new account it says account already exists with this user name. I suppose I can change my username but then may tell me that the LTC number has already been used…..

What a nightmare!

Maybe you can call them up or send a help request by email.

Take a deep breath and be patient. I hope this works out for you!
