Hello everyone, I only have an FID card, however I just recently became a member of Mass Firearms to shoot and was told I cannot rent anything semi auto unless there is a safety officer there? If this is true, man on man can I not wait to get the LTC.

I have not read the law, but I'm sure they put in some BS about supervision by a LTC holder and Mass Firearms is just covering their ass.

JFC when I got my FID in 1976 there was not a restriction on semi automatic shotguns how far back is MA going to roll back our rights?

Muskets only on a FID? Black Powder only?

Rocks?

No sling shots in MA IIRC so you better have a good pitching arm

They have made criminals out of how many people with FID's and semi's?

Careful, there...I once read of an arrest where the charge was: Assault with a dangerous weapon - Bagel.

I sh!t you not.

I'm an rso. And I'm not even sure. Does that require an ltc?

Edit to add. I mean does it require an ltc to be an rso

This sounds strange.

I know AFS has always had a policy that unless you had an LTC (MA or non-res) you couldn't rent anything unless you had a firearm of your own with you at the time, or came to the range with someone else. I don't know for sure but think it stems from the time they had someone decide to "end it all" there...sucked for them, nothing they could do.

This is the first I've heard of this though (I'll have to get more deets).
Strange because asked one time and more than half of their patrons are RI'ers being so close to the state line. I'm guessing very few of those RI'ers have a MA non-resident "temporary" license, so, if nothing else will be a huge hit to their rental business.

And what constitutes supervised? They don't open up their range without one of their RSO's walking back and forth...whether they are "certified" or just trained in their policies, I don't know.

I am curious to hear more about this

That's the one.

I was too lazy to look it up.

There was also one where the weapon was apples. That one was almost Biblical.
