A New Hampshire State Police trooper died in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in Portsmouth early Thursday morning, according to authorities. Officials identified the trooper who was killed as Staff Sgt. Jesse Sherrill, 44. Sherrill was working a New Hampshire Department of Transportation paving detail on the northbound side of I-95 near Exit 3 when he was hit by a tractor-trailer shortly after 12:30 a.m., officials said. The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he was treated and released. Sherrill was also taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
