New Hampshire for the win

Great, now you've totally jinxed us for next Tuesday. Thanks a lot! /s

Going off of the Ammo.com criteria, ranking NH #1 makes sense. There are some areas we can still improve, I'd love to see us offer NICS-Exempt carry licenses.

Other rankings put us at #5, behind Arizona, Idaho, Texas, Arkansas based on "reported household gun ownership" and "favorable gun laws", though the former is unreliable and the latter tends to be be weighted in favor of state laws pretending that they can ignore federal laws for firearms produced in-state, which is wishful thinking at best.

Putting West Virginia at #2, merely because they added a sales tax exemption, does not seem justified?

(R)'s have a 21.5% chance of taking NH.
I assume you're talking our 4 electoral votes?

As long as Kelly takes the governorship, I couldn't care less about the rest of the ballot.

That's a strange statement unless you are talking federal, and sure - we send our trash to DC.

Locally NH is quite red. This one will be a nail biter for governor, but still Republican is favored pretty consistently by slim margin.

Why we tend to vote Republicans at home, Democrats in DC, I'll never understand. But that's the trend and likely end result.

I have to wonder how much of it has to do with college students showing up to just vote for President. I live in a small college town, and we see it every four years, busloads of students walking in and registering to vote same day and then only casting one vote.

Its the current betting odd percentage for the presidential election.

NH currently still has all Democrat Senators along with all Democrat representatives in the house.

I don't consider NH a conservative state.

This new voter ID thing may help. I don't understand the depth of it but I think it probably makes it harder to pop up and vote as a student with an out of state ID.

However if it were just that, doesn't explain Sununu getting in no problem both in presidential and non presidential years.

NH does have more swing/undeclared voters than Republican or Democrat. Is about 30% of each then rest potentially split ballots regularly.

It's purple technically, but keep in mind Republicans hold a super majority in the state - is as good as it gets locally.

Trump, isn't liked in NH.

As a guy that lives in Montana I can tell you with 100% certainty that NH is not even close when it comes to anything gun related, and that includes most states surrounding me. Don't matter what your laws are. It's the behavior and attitude of the majority of those that reside in your state that matters. I hope I'm wrong but I think New Hampshire's days are numbered. I love my massachusetts friends but too many non friendly masholes are moving up there.

The reason NH is a no-way from me is because its small and densely populated compared to the western states. I know there are some public lands in NH you can shoot on but most of it is backyard ranges, private land, or stupid ass gun ranges.

Also like you said, its the attitude. My friend and I drove a side by side from my garage out on to a public highway to my shooting spot with a 240 mounted on it the other day. Stopping at a gas station and people were just like "wow, cool" if they even cared at all.

When you go to the cash register with half of your cart full of shotgun shells and the nice lady at the register says, "someone is going to have fun this afternoon. Shooting some clays today?" You're in a great state. 😁

Yeah whatever. It's the blue northeast. That NH is in the top 25 is amazing considering the surroundings.
Montana sounds nice until you need to go someplace to fill that cart with shotgun shells. Or a hospital.

NH could fall prey to Democrats, but the majority of NH voters for whatever reason vote Republican locally, and within the last decade we even picked up constitutional carry. I believe the 2A Sanctuary law failed, but was actually making progress this year - nit quite up on what happened with that. No sales tax. No income tax. People who have done actual prison time (non violent crimes) actually can annul felonies and regain 2A rights. Insurance not required. Failure to inspect a vehicle is just a fine. No smog test. Castle doctrine & stand your ground. The place is pretty dam free compared to most.

And we have a coastline. That's really what'd keep me on the east coast. I couldn't imagine living all landlocked. Ain't no tuna, or big game you can catch with a hook, out where you are at :)

I'll admit it, I actually really like being able to do a round trip grocery run in 20 to 30 minutes. I work from home and specifically I shoot for getting things like that done when I got a little downtime during business hours, versus after work when I can be anywhere.

I'm in plaistow, which has a 1 mile strip with basically everything from grocery stores to Walmart, auto parts, restaurants & bars, gun shops, dealerships, dentists, doctors, urgent care, etc. When I was in Kingston, next town over, everything felt "far" :)

Oh she will & the issue is Trump. You need a better candidate to win NH, it isn't a partisan state that way.
By the time you guys realize your mistake, NH will be just like Massachusetts.. That's why NH would never be an option for me. I would need to go out West. I don’t care if you dislike Trump. He’s the better option. Period!!!

This is literally the same drivel that we've seen posted for over a decade here. 🤣

"2 more weeks till nh becomes communist" 🤣

Not much into desert living because its hard to survive if SHTF and dependence from outside sources for water. I prefer the mountains with fresh water and an abundance of critters to eat.... But holy shit, that looks fun!

Every time somebody posts about NH flipping into some kind of gun hating communist state I basically think of the poster basically doing this like either before or immediately after they posted it because it's basically just DSP drivel. 🤣

That is kinda funny, if anything NH has become MORE gun friendly in the past 20 years since the invasion of people from MA.

I love NH. Don’t get me wrong. I just don’t understand the way their residents vote. This is a huge election. You don’t have to like Trump. Not many people do. But they like his policies. If I hired a divorce attorney, I would not care if I liked him or not. I would want him to be an a**h***. I just want the best person for the job. How New Hampshire continues to vote blue is beyond me.

Voting blue federally might be seen as a way to bring more pork spending home while going red locally keeps property tax down.

We did get HB 1178 . . Beyond that, those "2A Sanctuary" bills are just wishful thinking and political posturing, won't stand up against a court challenge.

What we've achieved in the past 20 years:

  • 2010 - HB1665 the Knife law preemption act. is signed by Governor John Lynch
  • 2011 - SB88 Expands Castle Doctrine (Veto Override)
  • 2012 - HB1551 Landowner Liability protection
  • 2013 - Court case NH v Dor (Definition of "loaded")
  • 2015 - Resident P&R reciprocity allows concealed carry in 25 states
  • 2016 - Non-resident CHL rules overturned
  • 2016 - HB500 Suppressor Hunting signed by Governor Maggie Hassan
  • 2017 - SB12 (constitutional carry) signed by Governor Sununu
  • 2018 - SB500 clarifies rules regarding loaded long arms on motor vehicle, adds recognition of airgun and crossbow hunting, defines "Firearm" and "loaded".
  • 2019 - Democrats control the Legislature, Sununu vetoes HB109, HB514, HB564
  • 2021 - HB195 "Displaying a firearm shall not constitute reckless conduct" amends §631:3V
  • 2022 - HB 1178 passes, barring state or local LE from enforcing federal firearms statutes and rules
  • 2023 - Reciprocity expands to 28 states.
