Hello everyone, just checking to introduce myself. I am on my phone so I will make this short and sweet.

I have an apt. Tonight for my LTC in canton everyone I know has been B rammed and my father a veteran went in for an LTC-A alp left with a FID because he argued his rights. I am requesting the same LTC-A but in reality I just want a LTC-A target and hunting. I want to be able to own the pistol of my choice.

My big question is if I were to join idpa with a LTC-B would I be at a disadvantage as idpa is something I wish to pursue

-Brian

welcome to the forums, hopefully you won't get B rammed and at least get a restricted LTC-A....for IDPA if you do get a B license a lot of people use revolvers

Welcome to the forum, and good luck! Hopefully because you specified "hunting & target" they'll let you slide with a Class A. My fingers are crossed for you.

Got an LTC-B no restrictions..... I knew it was coming oh well. They said after 1 year with no issues I can get an A. So any 9mm handguns I can purchase with a B?

Best of luck OP, based on the 'towns' thread and your friends/family experience, it looks like you have an uphill battle. I'm from a B-ramming town myself, but at least we can still have AK's and AR's, for the most part.

You're biggest issue is your Z71... should have got an F150 [wink]

I thought in MA, they are only sold with 10 round magazines.

In a literal read of MGLs on capacity and the surrounding regulations, at Chief Glidden's recent (May 09) seminar to law enforcement, their interpretation is that ANY gun built and marketed to ANY CIVILIANS (e.g. non-LE and non-Mil) that is shipped with >10 rd mags (in any state) makes the gun, by definition, a "large capacity" gun.

After 2004 this became an issue as many mfrs reverted to marketing their guns with full-capacity mags in free America and cripple mags in those socialist States the forbade full-capacity mags/guns.

This interpretation makes sense even though we hate it.

I don't think I can get an sr9 with a B

If you are a Ma. resident you cannot buy an SR9 period. They are not Ma. compliant regardless of your class of license! You can only buy guns that are Ma. compliant period...regardless of your class! You need an FID or any LTC to buy any Ma. compliant handgun! There is not a sperate list for B licensee's than for A licensee's, there is just a list for State compliant guns! You have to check the list for each make and model gun, not every make/model gun that meets Ma. reguirements are Ma. legal (unless it is pre 1998 and grandfathered and the gun has never left Ma.)!

Whoa fella, you got a couple of things their that are not correct. Yes, their is the MA compliant thing for all guns newer than 1998. Class A and Class B are different in with regards to capacity, and type of guns you are allowed. Also a FID will only allow you to have and purchase non large capacity long guns, sorry you can not get a pistol with an FID card. Class B allows the holder non large capacity handguns ( most single stack semi autos, 1911's, some Sigs, ect) and revolvers. The topic has been covered tons of times by new members, keep in mind the SEARCH function is your friend.

I got nothing wrong buddy! I sell guns everyday to Ma residents and to non Ma residents!
Class A and B licenses are different but not for buying handguns OUTSIDE of Ma. ANY FID ot LTC will allow you to purchase a Ma. compliant handgun (there are no high capacity handguns on there Ma. compliant list!!)
The only difference is INSTATE if you are buying a grandfathered handgun with or w/o high capacity..but that is just INSTATE!!

YES you can buy a pistol with an FID!

Well, if you sell guns everyday in MA, then you should be very well versed in the laws surrounding the subject, and me as a mere mortal, should bow to your infinate wisdom on the subject. Good luck with that.

I will just tell you, your wrong and leave it at that.

You said it 45collector. Wow. Who is this guy?

You wouldn't happen to duct tape ceramic trauma plates to your chest as well do you?

I am a guy that sells firearms everyday to Mass residents..and one that doesn't believe everything i read on the internet...I dont have to use the search button to find out the laws...I get mine from the ATF!!
