New Guy in Tewksbury

Welcome! I'm new here too and from Tewksbury as well! It would be sweet if that gun shop opens. I had no idea that was the plan. Anybody a member at Tewksbury rod and gun club? I'm going to join next week hopefully.
 
My dad used to be.
They seem limited on what they got there and few odd rules..

I was thinking of joining dracut cause there more laid back It seems Can shoot 24/7 indoor more things todo there etc ...
If you join the Tewksbury club let me tag along one day kinda wanna check it out.

from the ghetto's of lowell here.

I was a member of tewksbury for a couple years. It's an ok club, nice people but very restrictive. take your time and look around before you join somewhere, i've been at harvard for about 7 months and its really night and day compared to tewksbury
 
I was thinking of the Andover club cause its about the same distance from me as the dracut club (time wise)


Things I thought odd about some mass clubs...
The round limits at clubs and no human shape targets (against mass law??).... I got a stock pile of zombi targets :(

Andover has both. It's a nice club though. I was told it had a club license and one of the rules was to not allow human shape targets. The round count is more arbitrary and if we have enough of "us" we might want to try and change that...

LMK if any of you want to visit. Weekdays are good for me this month!
 
As far as no human shapes, i believe that is only for a club with a Class A license, which allows the club to store weapons and ammo on the premises i.e. to rent out, etc I think IANAL..


. The colonel of state police may, after an investigation, grant a Class A license to a club or facility with an on-site shooting range or gallery, which club is incorporated under the laws of the commonwealth for the possession, storage and use of large capacity weapons, ammunition therefor and large capacity feeding devices for use with such weapons on the premises of such club; provided, however, that not less than one shareholder of such club shall be qualified and suitable to be issued such license; and provided further, that such large capacity weapons and ammunition feeding devices may be used under such Class A club license only by such members that possess a valid firearm identification card issued under section 129B or a valid Class A or Class B license to carry firearms, or by such other persons that the club permits while under the direct supervision of a certified firearms safety instructor or club member who, in the case of a large capacity firearm, possesses a valid Class A license to carry firearms or, in the case of a large capacity rifle or shotgun, possesses a valid Class A or Class B license to carry firearms. Such club shall not permit shooting at targets that depict human figures, human effigies, human silhouettes or any human images thereof, except by public safety personnel performing in line with their official duties.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll do more research before I join it. I was just thinking I live so close to it that I should just join. The andover club looks legit.

Ya man I would love to visit it and check it out. I'm around all the time as I work from home some days. Let me know next time you think you're going.

So what is the limit on the round count? I wouldn't have even thought that there would be a restriction! Sounds pretty stupid...why can't I blow 500 worth of ammo if I want LOL!

It's a limit of 5 rounds in a mag. You can blow up as much ammo as you want...

How does this Fri around 1pm look?
 
Welcome, I lived in tewksbury from birth till 4 months ago when I moved to Salem nh. Sgt. Harrington issued my permit and was a very stand up guy, my brother in law is also a tewksbury cop and tells me just about every cop on the department is pro gun and encourages the citizens to be armed to protect them selves. It only took me 5 weeks to get my permit but my dads took 4 months so I don't think the town is to blame for your wait.

Thanks for the Info...it's just anoying that the only response I can get out them is "It's with the State, maybe another few weeks."

As for the clubs - I have a coworker who is a member at Tyngsboro anyone know much about them? How is Dracut?

The big thing is i plan to move to Dunstable in the next 1-2 years so I would prefer to join a club that will be convenient after i've moved as well as now.
