New Folks Check In and Say Hi #4

Hi! My father introduced me to this website and I just joined last night. I'm Kristen, from Boston, MA and I just received my LTC on Thursday. I've had an FID for a few years now but I now own a 9mm Ruger. I've heard a lot of great things about this website and just wanted to say hello!

Hello Kristen. Welcome! 'Grats on your LTC and your 9 mil. Hope you enjoy the forum as much as the rest of us. Don't hesitate to reply in discussion threads and join in on the fun or create your own if you have a question about something (but do use the search function on the site first).

Cheers [mg]

Good morning all. I have come full circle, back to the Northeast. My wife and I retired in March of 2017 and after years of living in California we were ready to get out of the nut house. My wife is originally from Philadelphia and New York City for me. Neither area was appealing and besides our daughter, son in law and grandson live in New Hampshire so it was an easy choice. I love to hunt, fish and shoot hence, found NH a wonderful place for these retirement activities. And of course, the gun laws in NH are a breath of fresh air compared to California. Anyway, I am enjoying this forum and have already learned a great deal. Who says an old dog can't learn a new trick?

Hi Steven, welcome to NES and back to the northeast. Great intro post. If you’re anywhere near Peterborough, NH, there’s a club there that runs some NES shoots throughout the year. You’ll need to be a green member (paid) to attend those. That’s just one of the many benefits of being a green member though, you’ll also get member only threads, group buys, karma (free giveaways), and meet ups. Look forward to seeing ya on the forum [mg]

Hey Kristen, congrats on getting your LTC. Did you get any restrictions? Good choice on Ruger. They're prob my fav manufacturer right now. I'm usually found at the Dorchester range which is prob closest to you too.

Oh man from Commiefornia to Live Free. What a change. Where in NYC? I lived in Brooklyn for a couple years near Prospect park.

Hi All - I'm from a very rural town in central Ma and now living in Boston proper. I have experience growing up shooting with my grandfather (civil war - WW2 firearms mostly), and the whole m9, m14, A4, m590 suite from when I was babysitting a reactor in the Navy. I found NES back when I first got my LTC and I was doing a ton of research about it (joke was on me, lived in a green town). Weird fact i didn't know until last election: there are many firearms enthusiasts that live in my little pocket of Boston.

Hi there! Welcome to the NES community. Thanks for your service in the Navy. That’s exactly how a lot of people found NES as well. Hope to see you post on the forum more. [mg]

I've been around on a few other forums, ran across this site looking for information on Hartford arms and thought I would check it out. Name is Tom aka fyrfinder, located in the great southwest of Arizona. former fire: firefighter, inspector, investigator first time around, fire inspector, building inspector and code enforcement specialist second twenty. Now, just happily retired (twice) and keeping my mind active. Into firearms in general, but like Fiala's, Hartford's and High Standard pistols .. in that order :)

Hey Everyone
Names Mike and I am a new to the gun world, and I have my buddy to thank me for that. Back when we were in nursing school, he brought me to the gun range where we shot his AR, and a few handguns at a local range. I have finally gotten around to taking my safety course, and I just booked my meeting with the local LO for February 22(long turn over here in Dartmouth MA from what i hear). Looking forward to learning from everyone!

Welcome to NES corner of the gun world.

Wishing you a speedy time through the wonderful world of the MA LTC process. Take this time to look through the threads here. Some of them are extremely helpful. Feel free to start a new thread to ask your own questions but definitely try to search for your answer first using the search function on this forum or through google (sometimes it’s easier to search “northeastshooters” and then whatever keywords you have.

Cheers [mg]

I got into shooting and concealed carry with my dad as a teen in Tennessee; can’t believe how much we took the free exercise of the 2nd Amendment for granted there!

My wife and I moved to central Mass a few years ago and we’re now expecting our first kid. I look forward to training him to respect and exercise his rights as well.

I’m joining NES to be more active in the shooting community and learn all I can. Found you guys on a random Google search and couldn’t be more grateful for the great input.

Hi Jim, welcome aboard!
I found NESS the same way, except I had to RE-learn the crazy gun laws when I moved back after 27 years in CA.
Go checkout the ham radio forum here. It's a little quiet right now but dozens of NESers have gotten their tickets in the past few years, party as a result of that sub forum.
Hope to see you at a NES shoot or on the bands.
73, Bob

Hi. I’m Joe. Been lurking for awhile looking at classifieds but thought I’d start posting. Moved to RI 10 years ago from Ohio. Grew up in farm country where everyone had a gun rack in the back window of their truck. Still getting used to all the laws and the culture here. Love shooting.

Hi Joe, Welcome to the community. I reckon we have some Islanders like yourself on NES. Glad to have you here. Thanks for the quick intro; I will look forward to seeing you post more around the forum. Cheers!

Happy New Year Everyone,
Longtime lurker, new member for 2018... Grew up in MA, then out to CA > NYC, then back to MA for the last 3 years. ME is the final destination one day.
Love shooting, training and the outdoors as much as possible. Looking forward to 2018 and finding an outdoor range this spring and getting involved with some IDPA courses.
