[FONT="]TOPSFIELD — A 27-year-old Topsfield man was arrested early yesterday morning after police were called to a Washington Street home by family members who reported they were assaulted and threatened by the man and forced to flee the home. [/FONT]
[FONT="]Daniel P. Morley, of Topsfield, was arrested on charges of two counts of domestic assault and battery, threatening to commit arson and communicating a bomb scare, according to a press release issued by the Topsfield Police Department. Morley’s address was not released by police last night.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Police were called to a home in the area of Main Street at 2:46 a.m. on a report of a “domestic disturbance.” Officers arriving at the scene were approached by two people who alleged they were assaulted and threatened by a family member, the release said. [/FONT]
[FONT="]Due to the nature of the incident, police blocked off the street and called in additional assistance from neighboring towns and the state police special tactical operation (STOP).[/FONT]
[FONT="]During a search of the home, officers recovered from the suspect’s bedroom a loaded bolt-action rifle, handgun, ammunition and numerous knives. [/FONT]
[FONT="]A state police bomb squad was also called in after a “suspicious item” was found. [/FONT]
[FONT="]It was later determined that the item was not explosive, police said. [/FONT]

[/FONT][FONT="]TOPSFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police say they uncovered a weapons stockpile inside a Massachusetts house, which included a large pressure cooker and lots of bomb-making materials. Now, the FBI is looking into whether a Topsfield man had any connection to the Boston Marathon bombers.
Daniel Morley, 27, is accused of having the same type of materials used to make the bombs used in the marathon attacks.
Inside the Topsfield home, police said they found a pressure cooker concealed in a black gym bag, explosive materials, ball bearings, wires, and dismantled cell phone parts. According to court documents, they also found an assault rifle with hundreds of rounds of ammunition.[/FONT]
Some comments:
That "Russian Style Assault Rifle" is a bolt action WWII rifle. There's no one in this world who would actually classify it as an assault rifle beyond the fear mongering news stations.
Just about every household in America that has a pressure cooker, also has bomb-making materials in the home. Household products.
So, what was the rifle? A mosin?
ROFTL with the nagant "assault rifle"..... you guys really need to do a little background before you report something, or at least hire one guy who knows guns to look over everything before you are allowed to say it out loud.
We need to ban pressure cookers. Have those who already possess them go through a state certified training course on their proper use, register and get a state identification card to be in lawful possess of a pressure cooker. A legal pressure cooker may hold up to, but no more than 10 chicken wings. When transporting a pressure cooker on a public roadway you must keep electrical cord and pressure cooker in areas of personal conveyance vehicle, or public transportation separate, so as not to have immediate access to them. You may only purchase one pressure cooker a month. There is a 7 day waiting period to take possession of pressure cooker from time of purchase. Our forefathers could not have imagined such technological advances in cookware that have been made over the past 200 plus years. The central authority cannot see why the average "Subject" needs other than an iron clad pan and hearth for their cooking needs.[FONT="][/FONT]
