New Acquisitions October

Arrived Monday my first Garand from the CMP, Service Grade. Springfield 43 million serial number puts manufacturer date in 1952. The only issue I have with it is the TE in listed as 4+ while the ME is 2. Waited only 2 weeks from the time the order was posted to arrival. I didn't make any special requests.

Don't sweat the 4+/2 TE/ME. I selected a SA/FG in person at CMP South on 6/28. Serial number 358427 dates the receiver to October of 1941. Rifle is a post-WWII rebuild with an 11/1946 SA barrel date and measures a ME of 3+, TE of 4. Stock is from the correct time frame: GHS/SA. Most parts are SA from 1941-42. Three clicks elevation to hit 100 yards. Bore not as clean and bright as the other two I have owned, but shoots the best of all 4 right out of the box. Second target was overlaid on the first after I set the sights.

Happy Halloween

A Halloween present for myself! Primary Weapon Systems (PWS) MK2 in 308. First time buying a PWS product, seems like a quality firearm, the trigger feels really nice. If anybody has a good scope recommendation I'm all ears.

Such a great find! All I can think of is "Solo shot first". Silly, I know. [grin]

This just reminded me, I haven't test fired my C96 since I got some .30 mauser ammo. Just went out and tried it....sweet gun. BTW, I paid twice what you did. I got an original shoulder stock and there are no import marks on mine...still, you got a smoking deal there!!!

Thanks for the info. From what I can tell so far, everything on the gun is SA except for the op rod which is HRA. I won't have a chance to shoot it until December.

Just curious, does the CMP test fire the rifles after they rebuild them?

Well I picked up a treat today from the CMP (well, fedex). Sent the order out exactly 2 weeks ago for a Field Grade, requested a S/A since I have a SG HRA already. Sorry for the crappy pics, was using my phone and didn't have much time.

Rossi 92 in .357/.38, worked on by Steve Young

He bead blasted it, removed safety, installed Skinner sight, slicked up the action and lightened loading gate spring
