Nothing yet? Still refilling my American collection after a large sell off this summer to pay medical bills. January 1918 M17 Eddystone, RIA WW2 refurbished. Still mostly Eddystone save a NOS (at the time) Winchester 12/18 barrel and W stock. Magazine box and trigger guard are Remington.

20180103_092523.jpg Saw this while visiting NY and had to send it to MA. Original numbered box, papers, and screwdriver amazing piece! Couldn't get all the fingerprints off it the blue is so deep. Lucky I sold a few things before so there was cash for this girl.

Waiting on a Winchester XPR in 300 Win to get delivered...

It’s here!

1954 Smith Corona... typewriter. I bought it off of the original owner! Needs some minor repairs and deep cleaning, but everything works.

50’s engineering and craftsmanship blows me away and this thing is certainly no exception.

Nice. We had a Smith-Corona electric from the 70s. I've been thinking of getting one from the late 30s to early 40s to pose with my Smith-Corona M03A3.

Book says it is 1976 a 19-4. Torn whether I should shoot or not . . . but this is New Acquisitions thread so not here!

It's a nice piece, but not really collectable. It should fulfill it's destiny and be shot.

I'd shoot it, but take pretty good care of it, as it "IS" pinned and recessed and no lock and the value of them keeps rising.

I finally purchased a Smith Corona 1903A3 that I've been itching to own for years. I did a complete detail strip, and cleaned and inspected every part.

All of the parts are correct for Smith Corona except for the trigger guard/magazine and the magazine follower. I plan on replacing these with SC parts. The barrel is 1943 and looks brand new.

I'm a bit stumped by the stock. It is the correct stock type for SC, and all of the cartouches and inspection stamps look correct with the exception of the FJA stamp - which appears forged.

The stock had been sanded at some point and they did a really poor job, like with 60 grit paper or lower. You can see what I mean in the image with the 4 inspection stamps which I didn't sand over. Maybe someone sanded off a different inspection stamp and added the FJA to make it appear more correct?

Since it had already been sanded, I cleaned it with 0000 steel wool and mineral spirits mixed with tung oil. Then wet sanded it with tung oil up to 400 grit (I was careful to avoid the cartouches and inspection stamps), then applied 4 more coats of tung oil. The stock came out absolutely gorgeous and feels great. The FJA stamp bothers me, but its not worth the cost to me to replace the stock.

I'm waiting for a set of headspace gauges before I take it to the range. I'm really looking forward to shooting this bad boy.

The FJA is a Remington stock proof mark, it’s not a phony stamp. I have the same stamp on mine. I was told/read that SC didnt have the capabilities to make the stock in 1942. So Remington contracted their made stocks to SC.

The font looks wrong. Every FJA stamp I've seen has a hooked "J".

And from what I've read, Remington never used diamonds in there inspection stamps. But who knows.

I beleve the diamond stamps are SC accepting marks. Toss it on the “military bubbas” forum and get some answers. There was a ton of info on the web and it was confusing. You did pick up a nice rifle, love shooting mine.

Here's my SC stock from last month; 3/43. I also replaced the TG with a nice blued SC.
