Hello everyone, I have a few questions pertaining to an FID card only, maybe you can help me to understand better. I will try to break up my questions.
1. What is the policy on storing your long gun in a soft carry case with a lock, does this count as a locked container if equipped with a padlock in the eyes of the law? I would use the fabric loop and the zipper if so?
2. What is the best way to store a shotgun for self defense? In said carry case loaded, unloaded with a trigger or cable lock? I'm trying to not get into trouble yet have a viable half asleep chance for thr just in case scenario.
3. While transporting a firearm, with an FID if there is ever a situation that may require to use a gun for self defense is it legal outside of your home on an FID or is this for LTC only?
4. Can I leave shells on the Shotgun card or side saddle or does it need to be stored separately?
5. If I stay over someone's house, can I leave it locked in their house with me or leave it locked in my trunk if need be?
6. Can I get in trouble for having it in my car without a reason? Especially if pulled over for speeding or whatever reason? For example If throw it in for the trunk in the off chance I may go shooting or whatever later if plans change?
7. Does the shotgun need a case or to be locked in the trunk only or can it be on the backseat? I drive a hatchback style SUV. Also always unloaded for a vehicle unlike home correct?
8. Am I able to leave state lines to go to NH gun ranges with it?
I am trying to understand these specific laws better so I avoid any potential future issues! Thanks in advance.
