What can I use to get the caked on carbon off my aluminum Match Weight comp/muzzle weight without destroying the finish?

What type of finish does it have?
For really tough fouling I have used carb/throttle body cleaner. I have only used it on steel though.
I don't see it having any effect on the cars aluminum parts?

Have you tried ultrasonic?

I use Balistol and plastic picks on my revolver and that works fine for me after it has time to soak. Not sure about the aluminum though..

Ultrasonic sounds WAY easier though if it works

I wouldn't use cartridge cleaner in it, use the Hornady Gun Parts Cleaner. It says it is safe for all gun finishes. You can even call their customer support to verify. Here is what I am referring to. Cleaner
