A husband and wife were placed in the Alamance County jail Thursday for allegedly assaulting each other.
Alamance County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to Foster Store Road at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday in regard to a shooting. Authorities were told in a 911 call that it was domestic situation, according to a sheriff’s department news release.
When deputies arrived, they interviewed Michael Lewis Hill, 51, and his wife, Carol Elizabeth Hill, 61, about the situation. Michael Hill allegedly punched his wife in the mouth with his fist, according to warrants. As a result, Carol Hill grabbed a .38-caliber handgun and allegedly shot her husband in the foot.
Michael Hill’s injuries weren’t life-threatening, but he was taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center for treatment. Carol Hill also was taken to the hospital for an unrelated medical problem. They were both treated and released into the custody of the sheriff’s department.
Investigators conferred with the district attorney’s office and Michael Hill was charged with assault on a female. Carol Hill was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. They are both being held in the jail without bond because they were involved in a domestic violence matter. They have a first appearance in court Friday.
