The tables were turned on two robbery suspects, when an eldery man took out a gun and sent one of the criminals to the hospital.
Albert Atkinson, 77, shot at two men that Pitt County deputies said broke into his home early Wednesday morning.

"He's a quiet, older gentleman and a deacon," neighbor Martina Purvis said. "There's no way they could've suspected he would fight back."

Pitt County deputies around 1:20 a.m. responded to a call about a home invasion on the 200-block at River Road Estates north of Greenville. Four people were home when reports say that two men -- one with a weapon -- kicked down their door and entered.
That's when Atkinson managed to get to his gun in another room and confronted the suspects.....

Authorities have arrested a Robersonville man in connection with a Wednesday morning home-invasion north of Greenville, and a fourth robbery was reported hours after the incident.
Reginald Watson Jr., 20, 8819 Prison Camp Road, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree burglary in connection with an incident reported at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of River Road Estates, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office reported Thursday.
Four people were in the home. Victims said two robbers, one armed with a gun, entered the home and forced them to the floor. The homeowner managed to retrieve a weapon.....
