If he can do it by executive order, then a Democratic president can undo it.

But that won't happen, because one of the Democrat's biggest gripes about the Bush administration has been its use of the Executive Order. And, I'm sure we'll be equally safe from the mechanism of the Patriot Act when it's in THEIR hands.....
 
This is very good news, and I can't wait to see the revised regulations. My big complaint is that the government moves with such glacial speed that I'd be surprised if new regulations go into effect before this fall.
 
We do need to get Federal law to require Federal land to abide by state law regarding the carrying (concealed or otherwise) of arms and removing the blanket restriction regarding carrying in federal government buildings.

Here in Ohio we're working to remove many of the blanket prohibitions against CCW, including the one against carrying in government buildings open to the public. Courts, police stations, and jails will still be off limits.
