Nasty Anti-Gun Legislation Potentially Looming in RI

Rhode Island would have to agree to be annexed to New York. I don't see it happening.

I also don't see any so called assault weapons ban surviving a federal court challenge.

The one in NJ has just had a second injunction issued.
NJ’s carry law had an injunction issued against it twice. The Florio Gun Ban from 1990 is still alive and kicking and to this day has never had a court do anything to it.

RI would have to agree? Meh, the constitution changes with the winds and just as the founding fathers could envision “assault weapons” they also couldn't envision the state having a majority of buffoons living in the place. 😎 Maybe if they were offered a years supply of coffee milk and a free year pass to RI beaches then they would agree.

So Illinois just had their injunction on the terribly written AWB and mag ban enforced through out the whole state and it just reminds me of how crappy the state of RI is and how full of activist progressives this state really is. Even Illinois judges understand how unconstitutional these laws are and can't let them go into effect because of it. But RI judges think they themselves write the laws which is why I can't wait for these RI cases to hit the fed level

When Fidel ran communist Cuba, he intentionally limited subsidies to his people. There was enough to keep people alive (barely), but there was nothing left for some simple luxuries - a birthday cake, an extra pair of shoes, etc.

So industrious Cubans started running side businesses to make extra money. Mending clothes. Selling rice cookers bought on the black market. Tutoring kids.

Castro's secret police knew about all of these things that were patently illegal, but they turned a blind eye to these violations. UNTIL, the government needed something.

They'd show up at your door, telling you that they think that a subversive moved into the building, and that they needed you to spy on the newcomer, and report findings to the police. If you demurred, not wanting to rat out a neighbor, they would inform you that they knew you were running an illegal business, or violating some other law, and if you didn't cooperate, you'd lose your government subsidy, your government housing, your job, and you might even be arrested. Your kids would be kicked out of school, and your young adults expelled from university. In other words, they had you by the short hairs. You did what you were told.

If you go to your local library, and look at the state laws that have been passed, these books line an entire bookshelf, from floor to ceiling. Most of these laws are so vague, poorly written, that anyone can be convicted of a serious crime at the whim of any government bureaucrat. It's how they control the masses. If you speak up, or become a thorn in their side, they will start looking into your life, and will start enforcing every law they can come up with. You're done.

What's truly disturbing is that they aren't satisfied with this. They want more control. More surveillance. More limitations on freedom and liberty. More control. And the sheep just bend over, and spread their cheeks even wider.

This is not good either. Grandfather amendments placate the people who would normally fight such infringements, and allow these restrictions to sneak through.

Unfortunately, the proposed grandfather amendment didn't make it anywhere, voted down along party lines, which is something like 80-85%D vs. 15-20%R. A lawsuit got us nothing...so far. Still hoping that something comes from the appeal and/or eventual Supreme Court smackdown, but that could take years. Meanwhile, felons were made overnight out of otherwise law abiding citizens.

DimocRATS will do anything and everything they can get away with to disarm us. Why anyone here supports DimocRATS is beyond me.

The dumber RI makes their laws the harder they make it for a federal court to let their bullshit slide, no matter how badly biased the federal circuit is.

Quotation: "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have."
Not Jefferson but still accurately depicts the evil of government encroachment
