Just sitting here, catching up on Lodge Secretary stuff and playing mp3's in the background... so here goes:

"Hit the decks a-runnin', boys, and spin those guns around! When we find ---- we gotta cut her down!"

Damn... that didn't take long. "Sink the Bismarck", by Johnny Horton.

OK, let's try something a little different here...

"Where's the streetwise Hercules to fight the rising odds? Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?"

So many times, it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

I don't listen to these bands...

I knew the lyric's, but only because I had to google them. So I didn't post them.

I'm waiting for one I know so I can play. LOL! :D

OK, maybe it wasn't as easy as I thought. Tom Wait's Pasties & a G-string at the Two O'Clock Club off of the "Small Change" album.

I thought it would be an appropriate song for this forum, as it it the only Tom Waits song set in the Northeast. Combat Zone Boston, actually.

Yep he did 3 nights at the Orphium in Boston.

    Sept 19th, 20th, and 21st 1999.

    http://www.members.tripod.com/UlfB/setlists.html

Here are all the set-lists for the "Get Behind the Mule" Tour.

As far as I can tell, that night (the 19th) was the only time Tom ever sang Swordfishtrombones live! And somebody bootleged the concert.

All I have is that one song...I wish I could find the guy who did that night (lord knows I've tried)

I hope he tours again...tho I won't hold my Breath, he's too big into bein' a Dad.

Wow. Well, we can hope! Only thing left to do is listen to Rain Dogs, and watch "Mystery Men" or "Coffee & Cigarettes" again.

Sigh. What we have to do to survive.

You are correct C-pher. However, They are two different "Fire on the
    Mountain".....

    The Dead:

Long distance runner, what you standin’ there for?
Get up, get out, get out of the door
Your playin’ cold music on the barroom floor
Drowned in your laughter and dead to the core.
There’s a dragon with matches that’s loose on the town
Takes a whole pail of water just to cool him down.

    Fire! fire on the mountain!

Almost ablaze still you don’t feel the heat
It takes all you got just to stay on the beat.
You say it’s a livin’, we all gotta eat
But you’re here alone, there’s no one to compete.
    If mercy’s a bus’ness, I wish it for you
More than just ashes when your dreams come true.

    Fire! fire on the mountain!

Long distance runner, what you holdin’ out for?
Caught in slow motion in a dash for the door.
The flame from your stage has now spread to the floor
You gave all you had. why you wanna give more?
The more that you give, the more it will take
To the thin line beyond which you really can’t fake.

    Fire! fire on the mountain!

    Marshall Tucker:

Took my fam'ly away from my Carolina home
Had dreams about the West and started to roam
Six long months on a dust covered trail
They say heaven's at the end but so far it's been hell
And there's fire on the mountain, lightnin' in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waitin' for me there

We were diggin' and siftin' from five to five
Sellin' everything we found just to stay alive
Gold flowed free like the whiskey in the bars
Sinnin' was the big thing, lord and Satan was his star
And there's fire on the mountain, lightnin' in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waitin' for me there

Dance hall girls were the evenin' treat
Empty cartridges and blood lined the gutters of the street
Men were shot down for the sake of fun
Or just to hear the noise of their forty-four guns
And there's fire on the mountain, lightnin' in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waitin' for me there

Now my widow she weeps by my grave
Tears flow free for her man she couldn't save
Shot down in cold blood by a gun that carried fame
All for a useless and no good worthless claim

And there's fire on the mountain, lightnin' in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waitin' for me there
Fire on the mountain, lightnin' in the air
Gold in them hills and it's waitin' for me there
    Waitin' for me there

Personally, I prefer the Marshall Tucker although I am a Dead fan.
