I'm looking for a dentist who treats Veterans favorably. Same old story, fixed income, no appreciable assets and I let it slide hoping any problems would resolve themselves or the Grim Reaper takes care of things. Well those plans kind of failed. So I'm looking for one who doesn't only do the latest and greatest, read expensive, and possibly one who'll do some kind of secured payment plan.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this. Oh, and I can travel as I'm retired. So Vermont could be a possibility also. I live in Central N.H. should that make a difference. ( The VA doesn't do dentistry.)

Suggestions For Dental Clinics - Plus VA Patient Advocate

I don't know anything about any of these, they are from a Google Search "Dental Clinics New Hampshire". If you search the various websites you will find some that might be of use to you.

The only other suggestion I have is to check with your VA Patient Advocate: http://www.va.gov/health/patientadvocate/. While the VA may not provide dental care they may be able to suggest dental clinics that they refer VA patients to.

Regardless of your income, the goal of Ammonoosuc Community Health is to provide some form of medical and/or dental help. In addition, regardless of your insurance coverage, the center will try to work with you. The center will always try to work with patients and individuals to find some type of solution. All services and advice is offered on a confidential basis. Some services are offered for free, and others on a sliding fee scale, which means you will need to pay only what you can afford towards your bills. Five centers are located across the region.

Good luck!

Just a quick thought - maybe one of the dentist schools like tufts - that run actual clinics for their students to get experience, might offer something (?)

Four Dental Schools - Portland, ME and Three in Boston

Good thought, Stryker.

http://www.une.edu/ohc This is apparently the only dental school in Northern New England. The first time visit fee is $85.

http://dental.tufts.edu/patient-care/ They say they charge only half as much as private dental practices. The only other two I could find in a quick search in Boston are BU http://www.bu.edu/dental/patients/patient-guide/payment-additional-information/ and Harvard http://hsdm.harvard.edu/patients.

I would think that all these dental school associated clinics charge less than private practices.

Ammonoosuc Community Health just started their dentist services not long ago and I've heard nothing but good things about it thus far. All of their services are top notch. They will work with you to provide what you need, for a price that you can live with. Give them a call, you won't be sorry.

If you're willing to come to Boston, Tufts will do you right. The clinics were just redone a few years ago and they have their students training first thing.

BU is an ok school overall, but their dental clinic is limited and old, but I've had a few people have an ok experience there. Harvard I wouldn't recommend - they're primarily research and their clinics are not great... their students don't even touch clinical stuff until the summer of their third year just prior to seeing patients
