Picked up an Ephesian Arms AR-15 about a month ago.

Disclosure: I paid full price and Ephesian has given me nothing for free. Also, I am new to guns having got my LTC in last 6 months.

I support my local gun shops and try to buy local as much as possible. Bought my first gun at FTS guns in New Bedford. Great shop and while I was buying a gun from them the owner recommend Ephesian Arms in Fall River. When I finally made it over to Ephesian they were very excited (that's an understatement, you'd know what I mean if you've been there) that they were about to start production of AR style rifles. I got caught up in the excitement and put my down payment on one. I believe that they are CNC machining billet lowers and parts of the upper while buying the rest of what they need for assembling. Mine was built out with Magpul furniture.

Took it to the range and dialed in the scope (Vortex Spitfire 3X with a etched reticle). It zero'd very quickly at 50 yards. The 3 shot groups shooting off a bag were within an inch of each other. Just put the crosshairs on the target and the bullet followed. That was until I stopped using the bag for support. The last picture is a 9 shots without it. This gun is clearly better than I. The rifle has a 1:7 barrel and is chambered for 5.56 ammo. I was shooting Federal M193 55g.

What a blast to shoot a locally manufactured AR-15!

Please shop and buy local. Maybe it's a couple of dollars more but I can walk into Ephesian or FTS and say I need help and they are all over it. They answer all my stupid questions and concerns and are friendly while doing so. Now if only I could do something like this when calling my cable tv service.

Very nice!

A little trigger work and some match ammo might bring those groups below a half inch at 50 yards, but you are already doing ok for a carbine AR.

I see you talked to Mike.

I'd second the trigger work - give them a ring and find out what they put in there for a trigger. My guess is the trigger pull is just under a pound so you could close that group up a lot with a clean, light trigger.

Based on my memory: The AR's they sell in 3 different packages. A basic AR, which they described as an S&W MP15 sport like one, $799. The optic ready Magpul one (mine) $999 and one with optics for $1200.

It could be the trigger. I have to say it feels pretty good to me. I think as its the first gun with a muzzle brake I've ever shot, I am sure I flinch. I got to shot friends CZ527 carbine that day and my group was much tighter with that. Of course that gun has a sweet set trigger.

4th? My wife will kill me! But Ephesian is working on a AR10 version...

I think as its the first gun with a muzzle break I've ever shot,

Muzzle. BRAKE. As in, slows down muzzle movement. It doesn't BREAK the muzzle.

Sorry, I am paying to have mine removed now that I've escaped MA, so I'm particularly sensitive to the terminology right now. Nice rifle though. Spelling Nazi mode off.

You are right! Fixed it. I was thinking it in terms of recoil as there is very little so it broke it? Doesn't matter, its a brake.

Cool. For whatever it's worth to you, I have had brakes, compensators and standard A2s on my rifles. Frankly the only difference I can tell is that the brakes make everybody around me really mad, and the comps just make everybody around me kind of mad. I had a Sig Academy instructor once that was still deploying, and he told us he wouldn't work with anybody who had a brake or a comp, especially in tight spaces. If you look around you can find muzzle devices that are not classified as suppressors, and are therefore MA legal, but don't put out a giant shock wave to either side of you. Battle Comp makes some and I think BCM has some too. Just for your consideration.

you can do a lot worse in this state than ephesian. yeah their pricing is a bit high, but the customer service is the best. and you don't get the feeling you're bothering them if you just go in to browse.

as far as muzzle brakes go, i've seen (and heard/felt) enough of them to know i didn't want to be "that guy". the non-obnoxious ones are way out of the price range for my home-built mutt. i went with the thread protector. like the clean look, and i really don't need a comp/brake on .223/5.56
