With a big thanksto both "samandglove1" and zero hour arms today I got to add my 1st m1 carbine to the collection. Without samandglove1 I most defiantly would have paid to much and wouldn't have got nearly as nice of a carbine, so +1 and a big thanks!!

So here she is, an Underwood in the 2.5 mil serial range with a great Underwood 12-43 dated barrel. Also has a flat bolt which I was very excited about ( they just look cool!! )

I passed on a nice NPM that was a little more "original" ww2 but, I just was attached to the Underwood for whatever reason.

Glad you picked that one - the other one (on the opposite wall) may have been prettier, but the nicer condition bore is the way to go.

Sorry I had to scoot out - enjoyed chatting with you and Marco this afternoon.

Lol, nice to meet you on a round about kinda way! I'm Dan, sorry for not introducing myself

Congratulations on a great score. That is a really nice rifle with an almost perfect bore. I'm glad that it went to a good home as I'm sure you will enjoy and take care of it. I took a Quality Hardware carbine out to the range last Thursday and had myself a blast.

I had two CMP m1 carbines, an Inland and National Postal Meter. I sold the National Postal Meter, and I really wish I hadn't!
Especially now that the CMP is out of them, the prices went up at least $200!!

Wife and kids are in bed, so I'm free!

As it turns out I had ordered band of brothers on blu ray and it showed up this afternoon.... so I've got a glass of Merlot a few war era guns out and a cleaning kit, so yeah I'm dorking out

I just checked out one of my M1's I inherited from my Dad and it came from Arlington Ordanance, it's a Rock-Ola # 1,72x,xxx, looks like it just came off the battle field... what are they worth. I have another one that looks like it was blinged up that I shoot, it is way too much fun to shoot.

Nice looking M1 there, you'll love shooting it if you do, if you don't plan to shoot it, get a shooter.

If you search on GunBroker for completed sales for the last few months, that is a pretty good idea of the market value I think.
People seem to pay a lot more for the Rock-Ola carbines, because there are fewer of them made and because it's fun to think of a juke box company making carbines.

Thanks, I like GB... will do.

Arlington Ordinance imported their M1 Carbines back into the US from South Korea back in the late 80's. They seem to be in better condition than the Blue Sky imports. Its value is dependent on a number of things. Since it is a import, it is safe to assume that it is also a rebuild and will not get top money that a non rebuilt carbine would. As a rebuild in military configuration, it would start at $500 and work its way up depending on condition. A poor condition would be around the $500 mark. And very good condition would be around the $800-$900 range. There is a lot of relativity in pricing rebuilds. The trends change over time. Rock-Ola is one of the rarer makers so it might be worth a little more. The import stamp, has over time become moot as far as value. As previously stated, when CMP was selling them prices came down a little and now that they are out prices are moving up again.

You should take some pics and post your carbines on a new thread. It would be great to see them.

Nice Carbine. I love those things. I didn't know how much until I bought my first one. There should be a letter stamp inside the sling well of the stock so you can tell who was the mfg.

LW is marked inside the sling well and in yellow pencil its marker Underwood LW on the insideof the stock under the barrel

Nice Underwood

The parts are a bit of a mismatch, but that wouldn't bother me at all. You have mostly Underwood parts, and if you are ever interested in doing the slow process of switching out parts for correct parts, you can take your time with it. I picked up an almost all correct early IBM carbine and it took me about 6 months to find and switch out the last few remaining parts. It was a fun project and I met some good guys while buying and trading parts. You can find trade partners on this forum, as well as the CMP forum.

The soldiers that carried M1 Carbines all used mixmasters once the weapons saw real action. Whenever you want to start looking for matching parts, let me know. I think I have some Underwood marked stuff in my parts bin (recoil plate, mags, etc...)

Trigger guard. Inland Inland
bolt. C.u. Correct Underwood
bolt handle. U Correct Underwood
Hammer. U Correct Underwood
mag release. U Correct Underwood
F sight. N Correct for almost any other contractor except Underwood
r sight. LR Co Correct for a re-arsenaled Underwood
Front band. KI Inland
stock LW Correct Underwood

I'm not to worried about having all the same mfg at the moment. The ultimate goal is to have 3 the primary usgi nettle rifles ( lol I don't even have 1 complete set yet! ) I have twin boys that are 4 years old so I hope yo have 1 set for each of them and 1 for myself
