Must be nice to be rich and selfish

I feel the same way. I made the decision years ago that if I hadn't started a faimly by my late 30's then I wasn't going to. Luckily Tina was in agreement when we met. We just adopt wayward cats & guns now.:)

Why would anyone in their right mind want to father a child at the age of 60 knowing there is a good chance you will leave the child fatherless by highschool?

Tony Randall was in his late seventies when he fathered a child. Ditto James Doohan (Scotty).

Hell, I'm 34 with a 5 y.o. and a 2½ y.o. and feel I waited too long... I can't imagine being TWICE this age with a newborn. Even with Stewart's $$$...

IIRC, Strom Thurmond was also in his mid to late 70's when heis last child was born. A few years back we were having dinner with some doctors with whom my wife worked in Mexico City. The chief of service turned out to be the youngest of his father's 19 children, who was 79 when he was born. [shock] I just spent Thanksgiving weekend with both my kids, their spouses and our two granddaughters. I guess it might work if we had a very large house and I was only around for the conception part, otherwise I don't think I'd survive.

The difference with these guys is that they have plenty of money. Well, those that aren't dead that is. They don't have to worry about working 40 or more hours a week and then driving the kids around to school, after school stuff, Little League, Soccer, Dance, Basketball, yada, yada, yada.

I'm not complaining because I loved doing that stuff for my kids. When they were younger I worked the evening shift so I could do stuff at school with them. When they got older, I went to the night shift so I could go to school activities during the day and evening.

My point, such as it is, is that at age 52 I wouldn't have the energy to do tha stuff and work. If I were wealthy and work were not in the equation, then it would be a different matter.

1. Egoism

2. Prove his virility

3. To keep his name in front of the media

4. To create a buzz for a fading career

5. To say "Up yours world, I have the money, I have the gal, I can do whatever the heck I want!"

6. Most likely reason: he forgot to slide on a jimmy!

We adopted two cats. Of course I had to call my mother and tell her we were having twins! <G>

That cardiac bypass of her's really got a work out.

[lol] [lol] [lol] [lol] You're bad. [lol]

The best part is I get my sense of humor from her. She was 80 when she had the bypass and when one of her nosey neighbors asked her why she was in the hospital she told her that she had breast implants. <G>

Gary- reading that yr mom said she had breast implants to her neighbor made me snort beer out my nose...

waste of some perfectly good beer, but well worth it! [lol] [lol] [lol]

I had my last one when I was 47. I have no regrets. Here is the little bugger firing his first shots. I think I'll keep him. :D

Oh, that's one of my hobbies too! <G> Making people snort drinks out of their noses. I did it to one of my bosses during a promotional interview. Quite by accident, but I still didn't get the job.
