SOG knives have a not so good rep. I can't speak for their multi tools, but Leatherman has a really good name in the market.

I have a SOG EOD and it has held up very well. I have used it on several camping trips but honestly never put too much stress on the pliers themselves (if that is your main area of concern). I do like the looks of that Gerber tool for the range bag. I've been debating shelling out for the MultitaskAR tool but the Gerber is much more affordable.

I have the power-assist and love it. The quick action knifes while its closed is cool, but nothing revolutionary.

I will say, the SOG pliers mechanism is pretty sweet, as you get a 2:1 power multiplier and you can tell when you grip stuff with them. I got the black and the finish is OK, but I think they are well worth the price.

Im sure leatherman does it as well, but you can replace each tool if they are broken, and replace them with any of the ones offered by SOG.
