MRAP sightings anyone?

My guess would be the MRAPs were turned over to PDs as DoD surplus - but it's a guess.

So, cheaper for the PD to buy than a Bearcat. Not cheaper to maintain than a Bearcat. Not easier to drive than a Bearcat.

ETA: In the RTFA category, yes, DoD 1033 program gave it to Marshfield for cost of shipping. 38k lbs curb weight, too. Cop inexperienced with driving heavy stuff in town traffic, perhaps. Twice the weight of a Bearcat. You'll run across Bearcats on the road in Pittsfield all the time, but at least the Lenco guys know what they drive like.

A woman in Marshfield was recently hit and killed by an MRAP.
Why do the local PD's need these, isn't a Lenco Bearcat big enough ???

The woman turned into the MRAP, who was driving safely. Marshfield uses the MRAP because all it cost was shipping, and it is useful in storms in the beach communities. Maybe you should look into things a little further before proffering your opinion.
