... Even us LEO's have a hard time deciphering all these crazy laws here in MA.
That may be the scariest thing I've ever seen posted here on NES...
+1 on that.
I just came to the realization that the reason I don't spend much time on NES is because you guys are needlessly moaning and groaning about your darn gun laws. Real shooters, like Ninsho, move to New Hampshire.
We have one of the best, gun-law friendly states here in NH. But it gets better. Last session we lost by a hair a bid to go license-free, open or concealed. In the end, it was prevented only by outright corruption on the part of one senate critter. It's only a matter of time now--this law or one close to it, will pass. Solving the reciprocity problem by allowing NH shooters the optional issuance of ID, this law would have made NH even better than VT!
And our knife law, already passed, is now arguably best in the country.
Why are you guys still down there?
OK, it's not easy. Some of you still have jobs. I get that. But those of you who've been laid off, now is your chance. Look for jobs up here. And, because the cost of living is so much lower, you don't need $100,00 a year anymore. Food and gas prices are significantly lower. We have no sales tax and no income tax. $50,000/yr. up here is all you need. (But do make sure you're working in NH, so you don't have to continue paying MA state income tax.)
In the final analysis, however, don't you want to be up here when TSHTF? What will happen to you and your families if Boston has to evacuate? What a nightmare that will be. Wouldn't you prefer to be living up North here in an armed state before TSHTF?
How much time do you have? You'll need to be settled and, ah, "acclimated" up here well before TSHTF if you want to thrive. By "acclimated," I mean getting to know the neighbors, fitting in, and keeping your mouth shut until you gain some gravitas. In the meantime, plant a garden, store some food, and practice being more self-reliant.
If you still believe in voting, while that's still an option, it wouldn't hurt if you stopped voting like a wimp when you get here. (We constantly get people moving up from MA or CT who forget why they moved. Please, tell them to leave their big city voting pattern behind. Newbies forget that they don't live in a slave state anymore, and many continue voting like big city slaves, always picking the "lesser of two evils," which, by the way, is still evil. We need you guys to help balance the voting, too.)
When I moved here from CT, via the People's Republic of California, I was astonished at how friendly everybody was. While we were moving in to New London, a neighbor actually brought us a hot apple pie. Amazing. We shot off massive fireworks that first summer in our back yard. No one said a thing. I half expected the fire department to show up, but, no, it simply wasn't an issue. Then a neighbor went on vacation and left their front door open for two weeks. (Apparently they did it so we neighbors could come in and let their dog out.) Try that in crime-ridden MA.
I had my concealed carry in two weeks, even before having my driving license. North and West of Concord, there is little or no violent crime here. (Manchester and Nashua are still too close to MA for when TSHTF, so don't even bother living there. You might as well stay in MA.)
Make a clean break, and you will be free.
