Hello all, new to the forum!

In the next couple years my wife and I plan on moving to NC. I currently have a MA class A LTC. When we go to move should I change my address to my parents address or does it have to be where I will be living in NC? I did move once from town to town in mass and notified the proper authorities via proper paperwork etc.

Once you have moved out of state your MA resident LTC is invalid, you are no longer a resident of MA. If you wish to have a MA license you would need to do the annual visit to Chelsea and pay $100 each year for a restricted license.

If you were maintaining official residence in MA- if you had joined the military and were being stationed in NC, but still voted, registered vehicles and paid tax to MA- I don't know how that impacts MA LTC's.

Ugh, I'm jealous. Where in NC are you moving? I hope to be moving back in the next couple of years, too, but we'll see if it actually happens...

Notify the issuing dept and Chelsea by certified mail, the day you do that consider your license voided or early cancelled.

Don't bother with a non resident one, not worth the effort or cost.

Enjoy your new life

read up on NC laws, there are some unique gun laws there.

Now you have to choose between the Tarheels or Blue Devils. Just leave MA behind--wish I could.

My brother in law lives just outside of wilmington so most likely moving to that vicinity but I also plan on buying some land west of there for hunting and to put a cabin on...I've started to look at the gun laws but I still have some more to read up on before I' proficient in them. Hope you get back down there sooner then later....Tarheels or blue devils....hhmmmmm

NC may have better gun laws, but they are going full retard on other stuff:

That protection now includes making it against the law for any student to use a computer or computer network "with the intent to intimidate or torment a school employee" by doing the following, including:

Building a fake online profile or website
Posting or encouraging others to "post on the Internet private, personal, or sexual information pertaining to a school employee."
Posting a real "or doctored" image online of the school employee.
Accessing, altering or erasing "any computer network, computer data, computer program, or computer software, including breaking into a password-protected account or stealing or otherwise accessing passwords."
Using a computer for "repeated, continuing, or sustained electronic communications, including electronic mail or other transmissions, to a school employee."
Making any statement, "whether true or false" that's intended to "immediately provoke" anyone to "stalk or harass a school employee."
Signing up a school employee for a pornographic website "with the intent to intimidate or torment the employee."

The law makes it a misdemeanor to do these acts, and if a student is found guilty, he or she could face up to a $1,000 fine, jail time and possibly being transferred to another school.

The ACLU in North Carolina opposed the legislation, as it was written.

"We expressed our concerns that this would chill online free speech because the words 'intimidate' and 'torment' weren't defined in the statute, and don't really have a clear definition in the law," said Sarah Preston, policy director for the ACLU in North Carolina.

The most bullshit part of that law is the fact that you can't say ANYTHING about a teacher, even if it is true.

I'll decide on my new team when I move lol...Its too bad we have to be so "politically correct" these days...kids will be kids...Thank you for the link to the laws!

Ok so now when I'm ready to move how do I legally bring my guns through state other states to NC?

FOPA protects you, but I'd be very careful going through NY or NJ as those states seem to ignore the FOPA. Once out of those locales, no issues.

There have been a number of threads about FOPA, search is your friend.
