Hubby and I did something last night that we haven't done in years - we actually went to the movies.

We saw Serenity. It was a very decent flick. The one thing that surprised me however, was the fact that there were a grand total of 10 people in the theater (including Ed and I). At least we didn't have to worry about someone blocking our view of the screen. [lol]

We've been out to the movies 2-3 times in the past couple of years (a real binge for us), and it's always been like that. Usually major films at weekend matinees, but never the first couple of weeks or the release.

Patrick really wants to go see Serenity since he loves Firefly. I think we have every episode on the DVR here at home.

We don't get out to the movies much but we did see Wallace and Gromit, which I think everyone should see ASAP.

As far as I'm concerned, unless it's a really great movie I'm happier renting it and saving the $40 it costs to go to the movies these days.

I usually hate how much movie theatres rip you off but it seems since I've been "dating" lately I've gone to at least two movies a week. My favorite one I've seen recently would have to be Four Brothers and possibly a very close second would be the transporter 2. But I am absolutely dying with anticipation on going to go see Domino.

I go to the movies when there is nothing else to do. Kinda expensive. I'd rather go to AFS and rent a machine gun. It's much more satisfying.

We try to go at the cheap twilight shows, usally alot cheaper. Maybe go out to eat afterwards. The normal place we go (SHowcase in W springfield )
the cheap tickets are 6.50 but the local mall is 4.50 (But the seats make it hard for me to walk afterwards...)

We break it down to movies we want to see on the big screen and the ones we don't mind seeing on the DVD and the TV.

And we just don't go as much as we both would like to back when we where in the Army we went at least twice a week. (2.00 movies ! )

Yesterday was a lovely day for renting movies and laying around all day - which is what hubby and I did. We got:

1 - Sahara - (Clive Cussler book) - decent flick - captured Dirk and Giordano pertty well. I wouldn't mind if they do a few more Cussler books.

2 - Kingdon of Heaven - wasn't bad either.

3 - The Stepford Wives - it was okay (hubby liked it better).

4 - The Vilage - if you haven't seen this one, it's a bit strange, but it was pretty good.

Yeh hubby wanted to go to a movie last night but we decided we'd save about $30 by picking something on demand. Wound up watching the Drew Barrymore/Jimmy Fallon bosox flick. It was cute.

You're a Cussler Fan? Man, I love this guy. I have everything that he's ever written. I really like the New Kurt Austin books. Have some signed, he's great. Pompus person, great writer.

I have to agree. Dirk and Al were captured pretty good. But I really didn't expect Steve Zahn to do a good Al, I was suprised. And I have to say, Rainn Wilson as Rudi was a really good fit. And William H Macy as Sandecker was perfect. I was upset to not get Yegear in there anywhere. But I'm with you. I would like to see more Cussler books done as well.

What was really weird, when they were walking though the desert in the book, they ran across Clive. It would have been nice to see that in the movie. Almost like King does in his movies.

Way to antsy waiting for this weekend. Seeing Doom and Domino.

Doom is a childhood favorite of mine, I read all the books and played all the video games.

Domino I have known the story of for a long long time. I love the fact that they made it into a movie, hopefully they didn't mess it up too much. Oh yeah RIP the REAL Domino Harvey.

Yeah, Kath & I watched that this weekend, too. I particularly liked the scene where he was watching the 6th game of the 86 Series over and over again.

I remember watching that game and reaching for the power knob when Mookie hit that dribbler... then the ball went through Buckner's legs. My bro and I just about screamed out loud... Kathy just cringed.

Ross... the Mets fan.

They usually did in every book. :D I haven't read the new series. I was afraid that they'd lose something without Dirk. Maybe I'll try them.

Nah I like the Kurt and Joe Books! Espeshally since Dirk has been aging (wich adds a nice realistic twyst to a redicuiously unrealistic series....if Marine Biologists saved the world, I'd have done it by now!)

I was also VERY suprised at how good an Al Steve Zahn did!

The others were awesome...but I was pissed at the absence of the Cussler Cameo.

Arrrr

Making you feel old how? Were you born before the time of books? [twisted]

I was born before Doom! Hell, boy, I was born before PONG. I remember this fast moving new-fangled game that was making everyone want faster video and higher resolution cards... it was called DOOM. And I didn't even know it had a PLOT!!

AFAIK, the only plot in the game was "Kill them all, let G-d sort them out." [wink] [wink]
