I want to mount a Harris Bipod to my new LAR-8, but it has a smooth handguard with the standard vent holes. Looking at the Harris Bipod site, they sell and adapter for a smooth forend. It's at this link.

Has anyone used this adapter? If so, was it solid enough to hold the bipod or is it not worth it? Is there another option out there that works best if this one isn't good?

I'm also thinking of getting this bipod.

It's 6" to 9" and has the ability to level itself if your shooting on an uneven platform. I think this will work well from the bench or prone.

I ended up mounting a Harris bi pod on to a Rock River varmet with 20 inch barrel. The Harris just clipped on the front sling stud and works good. There is another spot to connect sling onto the bipod. If you don't have the sling adapter on there it shouldn't be much to attach to the forend. That looks like the same bipod I got and I have been happy with it.

I used http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=624340 to mount a bipod to a Romanian PSL handguard. It has vent slots in the wood handguard and one directly on the bottom of it. It works flawlessly. It has two plates that squeeze the hand guard and allows the bipod to mount to something very sturdy.

Does your handguard have a slot directly on the bottom? The only limitation would be the diameter of the slot. Just make sure it's wide enough for the pin to go through, but narrow enough for both of the plates not to slip through.

Used something similar on my Beowulf. The handguard is a Carbon Fiber piece. I drilled a hole for the threaded part, used some forceps to hold the plate in place and then threaded in the mount. Has worked great for the bipod and a sling.
